I respectfully disagree. In my view, they’re targeting exactly the right audience with this release. The GMT has been my choice since my military days, and it continues to be my preferred timepiece when traveling—it’s simply unparalleled in functionality and reliability across time zones. While I’m not particularly a fan of the strap design, that’s a minor and easily customizable feature. I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing this model in action. The answer to a question nobody asked.
I think the ideal was not to have a springbar break while beating the shit out of it. The FXD models were made for military and divers that don't need to have a watch flopping around while moving around due to spring bar failures. You can still exchange them for other one piece straps.Nice dial, but the FXD fixed spriing bar weirdness puts me off. To those of you with a FXD, what's the fucking point? What's wrong with normal spring bars? Then I can wear any type of strap, instead of the pointless limitations offered by fixed jobbies. I do not get it.
I really struggle to believe that. I strongly suspect that's pure marketing bs and that these watches are in fact being worn by middle managers. The FXD models were made for military and divers that don't need to have a watch flopping around while moving around due to spring bar failures.
The militaries of the world are full of middle managers, and anyone doing work is wearing a G-Shock.I really struggle to believe that. I strongly suspect that's pure marketing bs and that these watches are in fact being worn by middle managers.
I think it would be more disliked but if you need spring bars the Pelagos 42 and 39 already fill that space. So the FXD is a welcome attraction.Nice dial, but the FXD fixed spriing bar weirdness puts me off. To those of you with a FXD, what's the fucking point? What's wrong with normal spring bars? You would really need to be tugging at your watch with a focused intent to rip the strap off it to have a spring bar fail ….I think the ideal was not to have a springbar break while beating the shit out of it. I have lost a few cheaper/ issued watches because of these failures. If I am paying that much for a gen, I don't want to lose it.
