CHF 4,350 (about $5,000 USD) I'll wait for the rep 😂

As someone who has been watching gen FXD used prices fall (I’m interested in picking up the gen) it’s just a matter of patience and time ;)

So too will be this GMT. And possibly add to that that GMT’s were the hottest damn trend in 2023 and part of 2024, but GMT fatigue has set in.

Agreed, @Tippyracer

The reps we got of the FXD were underwhelming especially when compared to the very good XF and ZF reps of the regular Pelagos.

Tudor seems to always come out hot on the price at first while hype is up, then ease off it. Used prices in a few years may be around the BB Pro level.

The answer to a question nobody asked.
I respectfully disagree. In my view, they’re targeting exactly the right audience with this release. The GMT has been my choice since my military days, and it continues to be my preferred timepiece when traveling—it’s simply unparalleled in functionality and reliability across time zones. While I’m not particularly a fan of the strap design, that’s a minor and easily customizable feature. I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing this model in action.

Nice dial, but the FXD fixed spriing bar weirdness puts me off. To those of you with a FXD, what's the fucking point? What's wrong with normal spring bars? Then I can wear any type of strap, instead of the pointless limitations offered by fixed jobbies. I do not get it.

I think the ideal was not to have a springbar break while beating the shit out of it. The FXD models were made for military and divers that don't need to have a watch flopping around while moving around due to spring bar failures. You can still exchange them for other one piece straps.

I have lost a few cheaper/ issued watches because of these failures. If I am paying that much for a gen, I don't want to lose it.

I really struggle to believe that. I strongly suspect that's pure marketing bs and that these watches are in fact being worn by middle managers.

The militaries of the world are full of middle managers, and anyone doing work is wearing a G-Shock.

The SAS don't wear their Rolexes at work. People don't work 24/7

I think it would be more disliked but if you need spring bars the Pelagos 42 and 39 already fill that space. So the FXD is a welcome attraction.

I actually recall, and idk if this is marketing but wasn't it a requirement from Marine National? I can't find anything to back it up but i think they worked with them and this was one of the things requested, also why there's a quirky countdown timer.

Watch collectors, a large portion of them are attracted (myself included) by a watch that was designed tor a specific function or role.

The fixed lugs is the charm of the military heritage, and that "tool watch" feeling, even if, most of these watches will never see any kind of action that would actually warrant such things.

People have actually lost their watches in the surf and other things due to spring bar failures. (it doesn't happen much with modern watches anymore).

Similar questions can be asked by the Milsub 5517....

You would really need to be tugging at your watch with a focused intent to rip the strap off it to have a spring bar fail ….
In my 30+ years of watch wearing from cheap TIMEX to Middle of the range OMEGA’s all the way to daily wear and extreme rough handling G Shocks, I’ve never had a spring bar break or fail. I’ve had some Plastic G shock straps perish and snap but never a spring bar.

Most top end deep dive analog watches still use spring bars and I imagine if you’re ever gonna worry about losing a watch, deep diving would be the epitome of extreme anal twitch action.

In saying all that, I appreciate that brands like TUDOR need a degree of product separation and identity so having something like this in their portfolio allows for that. It is a nice looking watch but as some others have stated, the FXD ( Fixed bar ) design is just impractical in the real world and disallows strap choice and ease of use. For those that love NATO’s. ( I hate them with a passion ) I can see how exciting this product is for them. Horses for courses….
