so had a weird idea. Thinking of buying a FF trilogy, then replacing the bezel and case back with noob v1 bezel and caseback thus giving me a franken gen FF (same movement, dial, case, strap, hands) with rep bezel and case back. Is this an insane thing to do?

Before you spend that kind of money, I would make sure that the bezel construction and caseback will actually work on a gen Trilogy. Reps are notorious for being "Almost the same". Watches measurements are very exacting and just because it looks like it will work, that is no guarantee that it will. Look at some of the problems that modders encounter with Rolex watches. Usually the problem is the reverse of what you are trying, using a rep case with a genuine bezel, caseback, etc. Often times they are just a bit off, but just enough to make mating the parts together almost impossible. Having a quality machine shop at your disposal is a way of getting parts that are a little bit off to work,. but not always. If the bezel is too large, by just a tiny bit, it just won't work. you can cut down metal to make it fit, but if it's too big then??
Not trying to be discouraging, but I've been into modding reps for 15+ years, and I have a parts chest full of things that didn't fit!!

FF trilogy is 40mm and FF sport is 45mm...so there goes your compatibility

Yea. I compared them after I got it. I'm liking the trilogy anyway. Just added an air command concept 2000 to the mix yesterday.
