Saw Sir Richard Branson on the Today show this AM. He was talking about the missing Steve Fossett and how he had given him a Breitling Emergency watch with the EPRB unit prior to his round the world flight.

Hope it wasn't a Rep.......... :(

Good show about the Breitling Emergency. And being two billionaires, one hopes they could afford the gen.

(Don't know the man, but I still wish him well. I love adventurers)

I have seen him with one (in a photo). They would still need to be fairly close to him to pick up the signal, assuming he was wearing it. His plane is also fitted with a beacon that goes off if there is a large impact. I guess it is good that they haven't picked that signal up. I have been wondering if you could set off the beacon manually. I would seem like you would be able to turn it on without an impact. Otherwise I would be out there beating on it with a rock caveman style.

He is a smart, well trained guy. If he survived the landing he has a good shot at making it home.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, I agree.....If he survived the crash, he will likely make it out.

Course it won't do him much good if its off and he's not alive enough to activate it.

We are likely past the point where the emergency would transmit. They only work for about 48 hours.

I was hoping he would turn up wandering around burning man with a bad hangover.

Then again, have you seen his wife? He might be hiding...
