Hey fellas. So I'm still a noob at this, had a few automatic watches. However, I've never had a hand wound watch, automatics yes but not manual hand wound. To those with PAMs that are hand wound, any insights? How is it day to day, since you need to manually wound the watch every day or two? And if you have multiple watches you swap, does it get tiring having to keep setting the time?

Handwinding the movement is part of the intimate experience you share with your watch.

Honestly I never really got this question. Really it takes less than a minute to turn the crown 40 times.

I don't currently own a handwind so mine are all automatic with date. Which means every morning that I change my watch I have to set the date and time. This is far more tedious and time consuming than setting the time and turning the crown on a pam or other handwind. I'm not complaining though because ad I said for me this is part of the experience and I enjoy it

@bangsters I kind of got a chuckle thinking about this. I started out with hand winds. Moved up to automatics, tuning forks, quartz and back to autos. Got a hand wind Pam 127 inbound and very excited about it! Go figure!! Full circle? I guess I will have to let you know if I find anything is different from my expectations.

Its great. If you have a couple of watches in rotation, you can still keep them ticking without a winder :)

Thanks guys. I guess I'm just hesitant to jump from auto to manual wind, but you guys have no issues with manual wind so i will be trying out a few manual wind PAMs.

Love my hand winds (PAM 111, PAM 564 and Hamilton Officer Mechanical). It really is enjoyable cranking them to life and without the rotor to block the noise they tend to tick louder, which I personally love.

I just wind it when I go to wear it for the day. Doesn't really take any time out of the day.

I love winding my PAM 111 whenever i dont wear it for a couple of days , but for around 24-36 hours , it should be fine and you can hear it clicking , its like its telling you that its on your hand and you have to look at it, such a beautiful watch

Thanks. Glad to know manual wind is not an issue. I will take the plunge and will want a manual wound one. Just need to find one for me

I know others have already chimed in, but I will too. I absolutely love the process of winding my PAM111. I do it right after putting on my wedding ring, and it's now become such a habit that I don't even think about it.

Just got my 111 in last week. So far really enjoying it. The spring back when winding was a bit of a surprise. Came close to buying a gen a couple of times and very glad I didn't. They've done a great job.

Does the 111 have a mechanism to prevent over winding? What happebs if you wind too much does it get tight or it locks to prevent damage?

Actually, an automatic should also be wound every morning as the power reserve will be low after 10+ hours of lying still. Timekeeping will suffer when not wound every day.
Especially for those with an office job. Orchestra leaders, go quartz - too much shaking goin' on lol

Here is my 111 V4. Had it about a month. Until just a few days ago I didn't realize how much you actually have to wind it to be fully wound. I let it run out and it actually made it just over 60 hours. I personally don't mind winding at all.
