Until I drop the dime on a nicer strap what can I do to fix this awful rep strap in the time being? The rep strap that just came with my 111 is HORRIBLE. Are there any tips to making it softer?

no idea for leather, sorry... had it been rubber then a simple soaking in boiling water for a few minutes would have done.

To soften leather, you will need rubbing alcohol, cotton balls, and petroleum jelly. Rub some alcohol on the leather with cotton balls, then apply the petroleum jelly. This should soften and protect the leather.

Throw the rep calf strap in the trash. Buy yourself a new strap. :)

It's not worth your time or effort to try to "fix" a rep calf strap.

lol i was just about to ask the same thing. I got a 111j and im reading about how crappy the strap is going to be. Im even contemplating getting a getat homage watch for the strap.

Thanks for the advice on the rubbing alcohol and petroleum jelly........... or maybe the advice to toss it in the rubbish bin.

After market straps are definitely the way to go but...

They are just as addictive as these damn Pams.
