Just had my first ever watch delivered today. It's a Tag Grand Carrera Calibre 36.

Looks good and appears to be working OK. Couple of questions though ...

The instructions on Watcheden's website for setting the the time and so on say that you need to unwind the knob a little to unlock it, it pops out and then you can wind the watch or pull it out a little further to set the time. Well, mine doesn't need to be unwound a little and you can't push in and wind it tight to lock it. The knob just spins around in either direction, appearing to do nothing. You can pull the knob out but it is EXTREMELY stiff. When you pull it out you can set the time so no big deal really but, is this normal for these watches?

Second thing, the bezel can be rotated but only in one direction. Doesn't really matter but I'm wondering if this has some other function that's not obvious other than just being able to rotate it.

The inner bezel (if that's what it's called) rotates with the small knob on the other side of the watch.

The stopwatch buttons appear to work as you would expect.

If this is all explained somewhere, just point me to it.

Thanks.

is there a link to the specific watch from watcheden?

the crown shouldn't just spin freely... is yours the automatic or quartz version of the GC?

if its automatic, you should be able to screw the crown in and secure it. if not, then you may have a problem...

OK, I've been doing a bit of reading and I think I've answered a couple of my own questions.

I believe I have the quartz version. That'll be confirmed if it's still running in a few days sitting on the cupboard. The chrono hand ticks around second by second. I believe this can indicate that it is a quartz job.

Everything else seems to be working OK, the crown does pull out in two positions, first one sets the date, second one sets the time. The only issue here is that it is very stiff to pull out, maybe it will free up a bit after some use.

I'm still not sure about the outer bezel though, turns in one direction only with tiny "clicks" as you turn. Don't know if this has some non obvious function.

Aside from all that, the watch is pretty much what I expected for the price. Looks pretty good at first glance and it's only if you look closely that you can start seeing minor flaws. I'm sure you experts would be able to list a page full of problems with it but, to my untrained eye, it looks OK.

If it's a diver, then it's normal. The bezel is used to set the maximum time you can stay under water. You don't want it to move in the direction of more minutes ;)
