Thought I'd make a post documenting my experience with our newest UK Watchmaker.

I've asked 52 Degrees for a full service and repair as necessary to a 2836 with GMT, and to install a viet dial.

Communication so far has been superb. I will update when I have the watch back.

Sorry for the delay of a proper review. Life got busy, and then I went on holiday.

So, to start from the beginning, I made a blunder on my first attempt at modding a watch - just a dial swap - and ended up messing up the date works and probably the keyless.

I reached out to a few forum watchsmiths including 52 Degrees who had recently been approved by the boss as a trusted vendor.

I had a response within 20 minutes, which has got to be some kind of record, and so we discussed my problem and how to send my watch over. A threeweek turnaround was given, with a good price so I felt happy to go ahead.

Communication was great throughout. I did appreciate that there was a dialogue throughout the repair process, and if I had a question, that it would be quickly answered.

I received my watch back within the schedule provided, and all seemed well - the watch was smooth and incredibly accurate.

Reps being reps can often throw up another problem and the date wheel kicked up an issue shortly afterwards. (The watch was the 6542 from Li, which actually isn’t very well made at all...)

When a problem occurs after a repair has been completed there can sometimes be some pushback, but 52 Degrees was great. I was advised to send the watch back for investigation and repair - which I did, but I wore it for a few weeks first - the issue was not major, and I liked the watch!

When I sent the watch back, communication as before was excellent. He worked on the watch right away, replacing some of the suspect parts with swiss components and tested the watch for a month. He asked if I wanted it back earlier, but I wasnt in a hurry.

During this time we spoke about repairs and reps - I enjoyed the dialogue. I’m really happy with the service I got from 52 Degrees. He’s helpful, concise, experienced and overall, a pleasure to deal with. I’m thrilled that we have such a great repairman in the UK who can not only do the job well but is also great at communicating with his customers.

I will definitely be placing my watches in his good care in the future.

Hi muiramas,

thanks for taking the time to write that review. We got there in the end didn’t we. It makes a massive difference to me as well when the customer is so reasonable and understanding, which to be fair most of the RWI ones seem be, including yourself.

Obviously I tested it for a good few weeks and I’m guessing it’s still running well so that’s a good sign! But if you do have any further issues, don’t hesitate to let me know and I’ll get it sorted.

I hope you had a good break too!

thanks again.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I cannot message you. Can you repair an omega seamster 300m? The crown won't screw in, it just turns as if it has nothing to 'bite' on.

Many thanks in advance.

Probably not the place for this but since you're new on the forum I'll give you some advice in this thread.

You need a new crown and/or a new crown tube depending on which one is stripped for threads.

Buy that and then try to find a watchmaker that can help you either on the forum or find a local independent watch repair shop with an old guy that is willing to help. The messier the shop the better the odds are they're willing to help.

Give them the watch and the parts, be honest about it being a rep but it's a sentimental piece/gift yada yada whatever so you want to keep it. It's a simple job if you have the right tools.

Sorry for posting in an inappropriate place, and thank you very much for the advice
