Dear forum and newbie buyers,
Thought I'll just post my experience so this can guide other newbie buyers like me particularly those downunder.
I contacted Li from Jtime via mobile app and discussed a number of different watches and models. Li has been fantastic and took the time to discuss many options between the movements and recommend the pros and cons of each factory for a Rolex and Panerai replicas. For newbie, take your time to research the watch and understand the different movements as well as various factories that makes them. Read up on the various movements that are common for the watch that you maybe interested in and don't be afraid to ask a few questions to the dealers.
My recommendation of step by step guide is this: (what I have learnt and understand so far)
1. Seek out the make/model watch you like
2. Check the TD section within this forum or like forums
3. See what is on offer and READ the details / description of the various watches
4. Go look up the watch model and various movements as listed in the description
5. Ask questions if you still have any AFTER reading the many blogs and articles
6. Reach out to recent purchasers if you have any questions with regards to pit falls or TD's experience (I can say Jtime is very good to date to me)
7. Check for stock with the TD, check total price including shipping and ask for Payment methods - you will find likely that TD prefer non-credit card payments (maybe only for those downunder since we don't have OTP credit card process - dealers are afraid of chargeback too is my guess)
8. Place your order and pay TDs via your chosen or agreed method - no point to mark around if you have done all the above and decided to proceed - since this is not amazon or ebay, it is hard to transact without some level of trust as often the dealer payment options have no recourse for buyers (most if not all are the same)
9 . Be patient and wait for QC photo (which is where I am now)
10. Wait for shipping and goods (Be patient again) - Most TDs and Jtime guarantee that if there are customs issues they will replace or refund, you can confirm this before placing your order
One tip though is the payment options for those in downunder. You can sign up and prepare yourself for these payment methods:
Paypal via pay family/friends
Western Union (App and website available)
TransferWise (App and website available)
Bitcoin / Litecoin
The general approach is don't put any descriptions or wording unless it is a required field. And if you need to, check with the seller. Also, you an take a screenshot of your payment and send/email the TDs so you can show proof of payment (since no description).
For those who are more experience, please feel free to add to this post. I am mainly trying to create a post to 'guide' newbies through this process as I had to go through this myself and put in a good word for Jtime's Li, who has been fantastic and helpful to date.
I end up purchasing the
13 Oct - Panerai bronzo PAM382 today so now waiting for the QC photo.
I will update this thread as I go along.
