Hi All,
I'm very new to the world of watches.
A few short months ago; I stumbled across a random wrist roll video on a subreddit called 'ChinaTime' on Reddit.
for those who don't know - Chinatime is for cheap replicas - usually costing around £60-120 on sites like DHGate or AliExpress.
This lead to viewing more and more wrist rolls and eventually pulling the trigger and purchasing a 'chinatime' level AP Offshore Diver in yellow.
Although it was a cheap rep, I really liked it and often found myself sitting admiring it on my wrist.
Rather than scratching my itch this only intensified my interest in watches.
My grandfather owns a Rolex and they remind me of him, one of my earliest memories of him is him visiting and letting me wear it ( while he nervously sat next to me to ensure I didnt break it )
I've been browsing Rolex watches for one that jumps out at me and found the Sea-Dweller 116660 Bamford in Black and Red - my favourite colour combination
Rather than buying another Chinatime rep, I decided to take the next step up and get a 'reptime' level watch -
RepTime being similar to Chinatime except the watches are better quality and detail and much more expensive.
I have no idea what I was getting myself in to - rather than simply finding a seller on DHGate with photo reviews;
I had suddenly entered a world with TD's, movements, preferred factories and a hundred other new things to disorientate me.
I reached out to RepTime users and asked if anyone would take pity and help a lowly newb on their maiden voyage.
I found some amazing kind users - shoutout to camouflaged_resident and no-tie362 - who helped point me in the right direction.
Inline with their guidance I am documenting my first purchase here, maybe it will help reassure other first time buyers, maybe it will provide more seasoned buyers with a few laughs.. lets see
