Hi Guys,

I'm a newb here at RWI and to the world of watches and watch replicas in general. I have been scouring the internet for more info on replica watches as i've been really interested in buying for a while now. I love the look of Tag Heuer watches but alas I can't afford a genuine one... :(

Been doing some research on models and I think i've narrowed down my choices to either a Carrera Calibre 36 or a Carrera Calibre 17. I will probably pick up both at some point.

I'm interested in buying from Puretime who stocks both of these watches. As a newb I'm thinking I might purchase a quartz version of the Calibre 36, as the clicking movement doesn't really bother me that much - what's more important is the look and that I don't have to service. I could always purchase an Automatic movement at a later date if I really like it. Does anyone here have experience with this particular replica? http://www.puretime.watch/product/g...black-dial-on-black-leather-strap-jap-quartz/

I've also seen a Calibre 17 from puretime at a very very nice price with an asian 7750 automatic movement - however, i've read in places that this particular replica and movement has issues with the seconds and isn't that great... Can anyone with experience confirm this or offer any advice? http://puretime.watch/product/carrera-calibre-17-jf-ss-white-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a7750/

Apologies if this comes across as super newbie. Gotta start somewhere. :)

Regards,
Woodz.

The quartz will be bullet proof. Yes the auto may well be a problem, anything other than seconds at 6 can be an issue with the 7750 due to the extra gears needed to move the seconds from their native position and this uses a disk rather than a hand so that will place even more load on the workings of the add on module. No doubt someone will be along to confirm but I'd steer clear myself.

Thank you for the speedy reply mate, much appriciated. Maybe I will try and hunt down a quartz version of the Calibre 17 then...

Do you know if the Calibre 36 faces the same/any issues with an automatic movement? From my research this particular rep seems to be more popular in an automatic movement so I'm not sure. I'd be very interested in purchasing an Auto of this watch in the future if I like what I get with the quartz version.

After much research I may just consider buying a Quartz version of these pieces for the time being until i'm not so much of a newb with rep watches, haha! I'm a real newbie to how watch mechanicshttps://www.google.co.uk/search?q=m...ved=0ahUKEwiKqImvwsXJAhUDPhQKHSzSCJQQvwUIGigA and movements work and it seems like the majority of Tag replicas are notoriously problematic with the 7750 due to the position of the sub dials. I'm really afraid of buying one and having nothing but problems with it, or it failing within the first few months. I've heard it's best to service them as soon as you get them, but this could cost me £150+ which isn't ideal at this moment in time and to be honest, isn't something I would feel confident with considering it's my first purchase here. Maybe I will do some more research and consider it sometime in the future. A real pity because thr Carrera line has some of my favorite looking watches ever.

If anyone has any Tag watches to suggest with movements that have been very reliable for them, please do post them here for me to check out :)

Thanks for everyones input to this thread so far. :)

As a Noob myself I had a laugh when I saw your choices, these were the same as mine. I eventually plumped for the Calibre 36 quartz but in orange not yellow, which was the one you posted. There are a couple of issues with the rep that doesn't bother me but might some others.

The 'second' hand in mine is orange but should be silver, it also has a big arrow head on the hand which shouldn't be there, if I ever pluck up the courage I'll change it. The bezel in mine is slightly misaligned, the seonds wheel is not the same as the gen, the hour dial is so deep you can barely see it and the date on mine is black on white and not white on black as the gen. Maybe I should have rejected it but it does look good on the wrist.

But, the biggest problem I've found with the watch has nothing to do with the quality or how close it is to the gen. There is so much going on with this watch that I find it difficult to just glance at it to tell the time and have to really look at the dial, 'has the hour hand disappeared - must be at three then' lol.

Good bit of wrist candy though.

Enjoy your watch when you get it.
