As I mentioned in my first post on the new members forum ( https://forum.replica-watch.info/threads/hello-from-london-thanks-for-having-me-😀.10944411/ ) I tried on a Gen GMT-II but didn’t want to commit to spending such a large sum without test driving it first. Hence why I have turned to a rep for the next best option. You never know, it may be so good that I won’t need to bother with the Gen.

After a couple of weeks of research, learning, a whole lot of browsing on TD websites and changes of mind, I finally took the plunge and purchased a CF Black Rolex GMT Master-II (116710LN) from Steve at Theonewatches.

I had decided that I wanted a 116710LN from the outset. But which factory, with which movement and from which TD, were all questions I needed to answer.

After much reading I narrowed the factory down to either VS or Clean. I then approached a few dealers via email to ask for availability and delivery times.

From the TD’s I approached, Steve had the Clean in stock and said he could turn around QC and shipping quickly. I therefore proceeded to purchase the watch through his website using AMEX via “Credit Card(Second Choice)”. I was happy with the watch I had chosen, that the watch should arrive in a reasonable time and would have a 3186 movement and not a timebomb.

  • Placed order - 22/5/23
One thing I would like to mention at this stage is that I was also inclined to purchase through Theonewatches as they had a GBP£ option which I assumed meant I would be charged in GBP and not Dollars, thus avoiding card/foreign currency fees…. This however was NOT the case, and I was charged ~5% more than was quoted on my invoice. Not a big issue as the price was still very fair. But I thought this was worth mentioning as it may influence someone else’s decision.

After placing my order, nothing had been charged to my card. I therefore emailed Steve the following day and he responded less than 2 hours later. He stated my payment was “High Risk” and asked me to provide a photo of the front of my payment card, covering all but the first six and last 4 digits of the long card number. I thought this to be a little odd but proceeded anyway as I was using a credit card for payment. I was charged the next day.

  • Contacted Steve to ask why payment hadn’t been taken 23/5/23
  • Provided photo of payment card to Steve -23/5/23
  • Payment taken -24/5/23

Steve then provided me with QC photos and 2 videos the following morning which I OK’d the same day and asked to be informed once my watch was dispatched.

Received and OK’d QC Photos – 25/5/23

Four days later I received tracking information to be used once my watch arrived in the UK, plus a photo of the watch in wrapping and the UK shipping label. I was also given a link to 17track which is a tracking website for a range of couriers.

Shipped and shipping details provided 29/5/23

Wednesday morning I checked the Tracking information and the watch had arrived in the UK a few hours earlier. My package was delivered by Royal Mail the same day at 2pm. 16 days from placing the order to delivery and only 9 days from date of dispatch!

  • Watch Received 07/06/23
The watch arrived packaged in a small cardboard box 12x10x8cm. Inside the box, the watch was wrapped in foam, came in a plastic bag, and was covered in plastic wrap and a face guard.

The watch is overall excellent in my opinion. The only flaw that concerns me is with the Bezel. The bezel has back play and also the clicking is not the same as the Gen. I’ve seen a few posts on how Clean are over enthusiastic with the amount of grease used under the bezel and also the quality of the spring is questionable. I may in future opt to replace the spring and clean out the lubricant, however for now I will enjoy my new Clean GMT-II. If anyone has any suggestions or comments on the bezel I would be interested to hear opinions.

As for Steve and the service I received from Theonewatches, I couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend others use Steve as his service is excellent and delivery is fast. Just email him to check the watch you are looking to order is in his stock. Also, if your payment doesn’t go through, contact him to resolve any issues and he will respond quickly.

I have attached a few photos for those who are interested. Excuse fingerprints and shabby camera work!

Oh, and look, it’s now Beer O’clock! Happy days. What better way to enjoy my new timepiece than kick back with a cold one 🍺. Cheers.
