Well, I bought my first rep, a Sinn U1. Everything seems fine apart from the lume. Even in bright daylight there's a definite/obvious green tint to the lume markers. It doesn't show as well in the pic but you can still see. Is this how it's supposed to be? compare the white of the hands to the markers:

photo's of the gen show no green tint at all

Finally, im a bit of a watch noob. Don't wear them that often, am I able to adjust the strap myself or do I need to take it to a pro?

In the dark, pitch black room. I'm not joking when I say, there's no glow from the watch AT ALL. I can barely tell the time.

Very disappointed. :(

can you see the watch? to the left of the screen in the middle of the picture.

And this is how it looks during the day:

You need to CHARGE your watch by holding it under a strong light (or sun) for a minute, THEN go into the dark! :)

I remember my U2 Sinn didn't have strong lume, either. Actually almost none of my reps have...

Hi harrisonvendlor, it does look too green and it is a very bad lume. But let me guess, this is a 21J model? If so, I think it's part of the game. Lume on reps are allways dodgy and on the 21J models it seems to be even more so.

The rest of the watch looks very fine, so I would recomment you to start your carrear as a modder on your Sinn or send it to someone who can do the modding for you. You can find great tutorials on the forum, so just get cracking :)

I have the Gen UX2 hydro. The lume is minimal or nonexistent. My citizen kicks its pants off lume wise.

Its strange to me but the earlier batches of U1 reps were beautiful. The daylight lume markers were C1 white, just like my U2. The gen is most definitely white in daylight and it does glow at night (after exposure to light of course)
I would suggest a quick trip to be relumed and you will better enjoy and wear your watch proud. The U1 IMHO is a fantastic rep, just not sure about this green lume thing floating around...

Just a few shots of my U2 relumed

And my U2 showing obvious white markers (unlumed yet) but the AR capsule mod done

Am I hearing from this group that the U2 does not have the "green lume" issue? Is that accurate?

I've been looking at Sinn for awhile and would appreciate some opinions. Since the U2 has some complications, is it still a reliable movement, etc?

How about the U1? Has anyone ever had an issue with the function/movement of the watch?

Thank you!

To keep it short. I had both. U1 asian 2813 has skipping second hand.. it is an inherent behavior of the movement.

To borrow from Zig the technical explanation of this movement :
The skipping your describing is perfectly normal for this type of movement. The seconds is indirectly driven, the fact that you say that it "skips" from 12-5 proves this, turn the watch upside down and the "skipping" will now occur between 6-12.

The reason?

Gravity. When the hand has to fight gravity, it smooth out, when the hand is going with gravity, it jumps.

There is nothing wrong with the movement, all indirectly driven center seconds movements have this characteristic. Most vintage center seconds movements are of this design.

- If you get either the U1 or U2 with eta. you will not experience this and i have had 0 problems with my U2 GMT with swiss 2836. It runs very well so in conclusion, go swiss?

See this youtube video for the skipping you will encounter with the 2813.

Wow. VERY informative post gtanak. Thank you for the great information!

I definitely don't want the skipping issues. This is the first I've heard of this matter. ...I understand that there are very few actual, gen ETA's on the market. That even when they are posted as ETA's, they are actually clones.

Please advise. How can I find a genuine ETA movement for this Sinn?!?!

Thank you!

My U2 reportedly has an ETA movement. I say that because I have not been able to get it open yet to verify! Regardless, it's my favorite rep. I think I will get it lumed. Ideally, the bezel would get some treatment, too.

Do the Ar capsule mod first. Its the biggest tell IMHO, compare your U2 to the pic i posted above with the AR mod done
