I purchased a watch basically 6 months ago. A panerai with green dial for about 280 euros. Delivery did not take too long, couple weeks, and I received the watch. It looked good quality wise, well packaged, and worked no problem for about 6 hours. Then it froze and stopped working. Discussed options with Andrew, after some convincing he agreed to take the watch back for a refund, and after some more convincing he agreed to pay 20 euros of the 40 euros shipping I was about to pay. I shipped the watch according to Andrew’s instructions and he sayd he did not recieve the watch. Fast forward to 5 months later (couple days ago) received the watch back after paying another 10 euros to the courier. He sayd the recipient refused the watch, so it got sent back. Talked to Andrew and he still won’t give me a refund, tried discussing a partial refund as I understand he didn’t get his (broken) watch back but he won’t give me a penny. After all these troubles and after I spent about 350 euros I still have a broken watch and no refund. I can’t bring it to a local watch guy since they don’t fix reps (already tried) and I of course don’t want to spend another 40 euros shipping in back to china knowing it probably won’t arrive to him / get sent back by him. I understand sellers need to maintain some standard to keep in the trusted dealers list and I think at least a partial refund would have been nice in this situation, since he sent me a broken watch. Very very unadvised to do business with him… I still hope this can be solved somehow.

A couple of things:
Firstly, sending it back to China was not the best idea. TDs have specific systems when sending out products, but when you are sending to China, there is a tendency for items to disappear which has nothing to do with the TD.
Following on from that, you were lucky to get it back at all.

You are better off finding a rep friendly TD and I’m sure members here will point you into the right direction. Also, if you are diplomatic with the TD they may contribute to the repair cost.

I live in Italy in the Abruzzo region, I doubt there are rep friendly watchmakers that can help me but if someone knows someone I am happy to bring it to him…

What in all of this was Andrews fault ?

He sold you a watch, it was working when he shipped it, it stopped working sometime after you received it and he asked you to return it and even paid half of shipping costs.

The only 'awful' part of this is that you expect a refund of some sort.

When have you ever purchased and item online from a seller within the EU, who when you complained the item was faulty, replied 'OK I'll give you a partial refund' ?

There is a list of recommended watchmakers on the forum, there are 2 of them in Italy. In all likelihood there is a loose screw inside the watch, a 20 minute fix.

I still haven’t seen a cent. And since shipping the watch back or repainting it is an option now, yes, I would expect a small refund, it’s what we usually do here
