Hey all,

First pam purchase and I am torn.
I love the Pam 111 V3/4 except I would prefer closed caseback as my goal is to eventually buy eta 6497 and pop it in there.
Pam 411 has the closed caseback but I would rather not have vintage lume even though I can live with it and more than that have a rep of a 150 piece limited gen but The price at TB is attractive for a super rep.
Now the 005 may be my go to option but I am confused about the two options I found the V4 http://www.tb-688.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=511
And the noob V2 https://www.intime01.co/panerai/101...ack-calf-leather-strap-with-pre-v-hands-.html
I get that all of these are super reps except 005 noob V4 which I cannot find info on.

Should i go for my pam 111 and dont worry about open caseback when i replace the movement or am i ok with either 005 noob v2 or v4.In other words is the either 005 noob version as gen like as the 111?
Thanks

From what I remember 005 is as good a rep as 111. There is no v2 005, TDs won't keep stock. You'll only get the latest out there.

Same with 111 only v4 unless you go m2m. The 6497 is a workhorse movement and they are mostly very solid. Doubtful that you would need to consider a movement swap. I'd put the money towards some straps.

Thanks guys!
Yes, I want the latest version.
I guess I was confused seeing the super rep list being updated last month but having prior versions listed than what I found from TDs.
Sounds like I should just go for the 111 noob v4 and not worry about the movement as it is proven.
I like the sandwich dial and no OP logo slightly better and that 111 is a more popular version.

Another option is to get one from Marlin. His mods cost a few $$ but it brings a superrep to a virtually indishinguable level. Honestly, I've considered sending mine out to him, but they are so good out if the box it's hard to justify. here is my 111 and my 088. Mine is a V3 from noob.

Thats good to know. I just found his section. Being that I have sub coming I will just get the 111 from the same TD.
Thanks for the pic, those two look fantastic and I am glad to hear one more good thing about the 111.
I am still waiting on my TD to respond to this question but have you ever bought two watches at the same time?
Thinking if it would raise flags with the US customs?
I may save on shipping cost but don't want to risk losing them both.

Well, I've never bought more then one at a time, as I didn't want the headaches if a package with multiple watches was siezed. The general consensus is ship no more then two per shipment, but the TDs should know the safest way to ship. Read your dealers customs policy and decide.

My PAM111 is in the mail now. I got the rubber strap since I just picked up a pam682 with it and I like it. I'm hooked! White dial probably next! IMG_0303.jpg

Went with the 111 Noob V4 :)
Now I just need to get the right length strap for my 7inch wrist. Thinking 115/75.
Do you happen to know the length of the rubber strap that comes with the watch?

They come with the old standard 115/75 length straps.

The beauty of Panerai is there is are endless possibilities for straps, bands, bracelets, etc. The stock rubber should fit you as my wrist is 6 3/4 inches and there is room. But swapping straps, trying new looks is half the fun!

I love the vintage suede one, where did you get it?
Thats the look i had in mind. I wear my watches tight and prefer as little tail as possible. I am going to see if the stock one is too big for my liking, i think it may be perfect then order replacement in size based on it.

That's assolutamente on deployant clasp. Personally, I'd stick with Tang buckles as the deployant tends to dig into the wrist when worn snugly.

Gotcha, thanks! Is the buckle that comes on stock rubber strap usable?

On a standard 22/24 tang (buckle) strap for 44mm Panerai, yes, it unscrews to be transferred to the new band.

From what I've read the Noob PAM 111 v3/4 are pretty solid.

However, the one I bought came with a worn winding pinion, which I replaced (with ETA part) because it would no longer wind... started with some loud click sounds as I wound the watch.

Later the hairspring became unglued, which I re-glued.

Later the micro-screw on the so-called 'swan-neck' came out and lodged itself in the hairspring, which I removed and now have saved in a super tiny jar...

I ended up taking the whole damn thing apart/cleaned/reassembled/oiled.... and now the watch works and looks GREAT.

Good luck with your new PAM rep! Make sure to get it serviced and it should last a good long time.

Hey man, got any pictures from underside of the wrist with the watch on? I would like to see how much of tail you got hanging out when you put on the pam111 with 115/75 strap? We have about same size wrist and I would like to get the strap without much tail hanging out of the second keeper.
I am trying to figure what size strap to order from this one guy I found on instagram.
Thanks in advance!

Here's my 111on stock rubber for comparison if you are looking for anything more specific, or a specific strap pictured above, let me know.
