First Order With ChazingTime: 2 Out of 3 Watches Broken

I've ordered 30+ reps from a variety of TDs. I've never had an issue around watches being broken upon arrival.

I have emailed ChazingTime with pictures and details and I'm hoping they do the right thing.

The two watches and issues:
Overseas 47040 SS PPF 1:1 Best Edition Gray Textured Dial on Black Rubber Strap A1226
  • The seconds hand does not move. Is frozen in place.
Grand Seiko Elegance GMT SS GSF 1:1 Best Edition Cream Dial on Brown Leather Strap NH34
  • The GS logo on top of the dial is loose between the dial and crystal. It's dangling and moves around when you rotate the watch.
These watches were purchased and paid for on 12/31/2024.

Anyone else have any experiences when this has happened? I'm hoping ChazingTime does the right thing and reships correct watches.

The third watch (Santos de Cartier 40mm BVF 1:1 Best Edition Brown Dial on SS SmartLinks Bracelet MIYOTA 9015) arrived ahead of these watches by about a week and was perfect and worked upon arrival.

Thanks in advance.

This looks like they where damaged during shipping. Reach out to the TD. I'm shure you'll find a solution.
Should be an easy fix for a watchmaker. Maybe ChazingTime will participate in the costs. Wish you a good outcome bro.

Checking with you to see if it got sorted. I have recently ordered a total of 6 reps from Chazingtime and have all but 1 in my hands. I received one yesterday #5 a PAM1250 and it is completely dead. Hoping they do the right thing so curious to hear about your experience @bezelbandit .

Here's the full update (@kapp43009 and others).

I have spoken with Chazing Time via email and he's offered for me to send back both watches to him (keep in mind I'm in the US, he's in Asia). He wants me to send after LNY, so around February 6.

Candidly, I'm hesitant to send back as 1/ I'm concerned with shipping 2/ concerned with customs, etc.

I found a trusted RWI watch repairer in the US and sent both watches to him (on my dime) while I wait for LNY to be over. He was able to fix the Grand Seiko but was not able to fix the VC as he said (and showed in pictures) that there was a defective escapement. It cost me $72 US plus shipping. Fine, well worth it. I have to say this RWI watch repairer was excellent.

I will likely have to send back the Vacheron to Chazing post-Lunar New Year. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets back to him and I receive a new one.

I have to say that Chazing has been responsive through this so I'm hoping this will all workout, but he's not guaranteeing the shipment in case of loss. This part concerns me.

What does happens to the DOA watch if it is mailed back to Chazin but appears lost in shipment? I purchased a $3K modded 5167 that was non-functional on arrival. I was advised to mail it back which I did on Dec 18, 2024. Arrived in Guangzhou on Dec 28. The last message on tracking was on Jan 27 from the Guangzhou International Exchange Bureau: "item was processed....currently in transit to destination". Chazin's team told me it was not seized but en route back to me. So far there have been no updates or messages since Jan 27. Not sure what my next step is as Chazin's staff has not responded to my emails since Jan 17. I am hoping one of the officers can help me figure out what to do.

This is exactly my worry about sending back.

Here is the update as of March 5, 2025.

I mentioned above that I had sent my watches to a reputable watch repairer in the CONUS and received both back. The GS was broken again (logo came off) and the VC never ended up getting fixed because apparently it has a defective escapement. The watch repairer recommended I send it back to ChazingTime.

I was out $72 (labor) + shipping to the watch repairer. It was worth the gamble as I've heard bad stories about sending watches back to China.

I spoke with ChazingTIme and we agreed to send the watches back to him. I dropped them off this past Saturday at the USPS and ordered Priority Mail Express International. Per the tracking number, they are still in the US but I assume they will head to China shortly. (fingers crossed) I assume he'll have the watches by early next week. The shipping cost was $77.76 (via PirateShip)

So, I'm about $150 into these two broken watches via labor, shipping plus whatever time I've put into this. Clearly not thrilled.

I'm hoping ChazingTime replaces these watches and sends them back.

Will update once the next chapter in this story unfolds.

Sorry to hear that, was the second hands working in the QC? How was packaging of the watches?

The packaging was both watches wrapped together in a bubble wrap. It is highly likely they knocked into each other, either when packaged or on the trip here. There was a third watch which arrived OK (good) but that was about a week ahead of the two watches.

For those still watching, the package was mailed from me on February 28, 2025 via USPS Priority Mail Express International ($77 via PirateShip) and arrived at ChazingTime on March 13, 2025. ~2 week delivery. I am still awaiting feedback from ChazingTime confirming receipt and next steps.

Thought it was helpful to share the shipping time for those interested in understanding how long it would take.

ChazingTime recommended this shipping provider.

Well, just over 60 days from the start of this all, Chazingtime came through and delivered me new watches. They replaced the two which were defective/broken and the new ones arrived today.

Other than an inconvenience and having to spend $70-80 to ship the watches back, Ken and his team did the right thing. I appreciate that very much.

I am excited to get these on my wrist and enjoy them.

What is PirateShip and who is (this RWI watch repairer was excellent) the watchsmith, what is his contact info?

Your post count is really low, and you just joined a few months ago, it’s surprising that you’d spend that much so soon but I hope it works out!

@JimmyD750 . I appreciate your thoughts. I ordered the modded 5167 watch from Chazin so that I wouldn't have to do modifications after getting the watch. I thought that this would be the convenient way to go. Like @bezelbandit, I never imagined that I would get a DOA watch. As of today, the watch is still in limbo. Chazin team told me this past weekend to continue being patient. They are willing to split the cost of the watch and pay me $1500 if I wanted. That's sadly where I stand atm. Que sera, sera
