First update: the watch I'm looking for ended up being out of stock at the supplier. It's a bit disappointing as I had already paid everything in advance but the trusted dealer suggested the following options:
1 – wait for when it would be restocked (the TD was ok with this but specified that there was not a clear timeline)
2 – go for the same model but from VSF instead of Clean
As I remembered about an issue mentioned
in this thread for the 116520 VSF, I asked for some pictures to check and confirmed myself that the issue with the newer dial (using the 116500 dial version instead of the 116520) was present. The TD was not aware of this specific issue but for him it seemed like a really minor detail as there are many versions of this dial but for me this made this made it a no go.
After some chatting, I also asked the TD if the supplier had the 126500 from Clean (the Panda) as I also like that model and it seems that was the case. So, I paid a price difference ( the 126500 CF is slightly more expensive than the 116520 CF). Now I'll have to wait for this new model but this should be in stock. Will keep the thread updated when I get the watch
Pros & Cons:
- Pro: Appreciated the proactiveness and transparency in communications from the TD
- Pro: Appreciated the availability in answering all my questions and doubts
- Con: A bit disappointed that the watch I wanted was not available at the supplier and had to find out after I paid the whole price upfront.
Lessons learned so far:
– Ask the TD to confirm with the supplier that the watch model you want is available BEFORE making the purchase if you don't want to risk long open-ended waiting times or having to go for a different model (potentially more expensive) or factory
– Always do your own research and ask for photos and don't take QC for granted, even from TD. What for them might be a minor or insignificant flaw might be something important for you.
