So far the Panerai models has not realy catched on to me. Just recently however i spotted a 5218-202/A and from that moment i know i wanted one.

So, please, any pam newbie advice on this is most welcome.

Well, I'd argue that DSN's 202/A is "good" out of the box, goin.

However, if you want a GREAT one, you will need to spend some ducats, Franke.

I just went through this excercise with another member via email and if you're building one with real DLC coating, an FGD dial, a t48 crown, Jakob caseback and an upgraded CG, plan on spending about $1000 USD, plus labor. Perhaps more if you want to use one of the pending Pre-V cases from one of the guys at RWGjr, a LH crown guard, etc.

For a 202 I would try takas new dlc. It's 120 euro and I think 25% off.

Cartel cases are bette than dsns. Drill the lugs and use the screws from panatime.

Lh, v, toro, sbembo for cgs. Best to worst IMO

T48.

202 dial from fgd is 70

relume is about 100.

Jakob case back.

Asian mvt as it's closed case back

I don't have any advice to give as I am a newbie with Pams myself....

All I wanted to say is, I have been collecting reps for years and Pams never appealed to me and I couldn't understand the fascination. I finally broke down and bought a Pam005 (a cheapie) - to see what all the fuss was about - I was not impressed.

But for some reason, I had an urge to purchase another Pam. This time I bought a more expensive Pam 111 rep. It was love at first sight! It was beautiful in it's 'simplicity' - I was hooked! I then turned around and bought a 283! Now I totally understand! None of my other watches get any wrist time since I bought the Pams! I get it! I am a Pam fan FOR LIFE!!!

....btw I have a Pam 127 in route and I can't wait!!!
