Finally... the long wait is over. My newly modded PAM063 GMT

PAM063 has always been a great looking watch to me and I like the way they arrange the numerals on the dial etc. However, there was a point that I wanted to sell mine away as I was bothered very much by the incorrect date font and zero mag power cyclop. I was about to let go until I saw Beano2004 advertising his PAM063 and he bundled with all the goodie stuff like finepics date wheel, OEM crown and a proper cyclop ready for a true mod over. It was truly a cool deal and the wait to gather for all the mod parts are not easy and takes a long time. The thing is, buying the whole package from him will be too expensive as I already have the watch. So I PM him to ask if he will sell me the parts only. I didn't put in high hope actually and decided to sell my PAM063 off if he turned me down. To my surprise, Beano2004 PM me and told me that he got some spare parts available and he can sell those items to me. I was lucky...So I got a finepics datewheel, an OEM crown and a cyclop from him.

Here are the results and I'm loving it. Thanks Bean2004 and nice dealing with you.

Nice and sharp date font with good mag power from the cyclop

Nice crown and look "thicker" compared to the original rep crown that comes together with the watch

That looks very nice - I am sure I will fall to the PAM bug at some point - and it will most likely be the GMT...

nice one...i am waiting for the 2893-2 PAM029 from a member...I prefer the 029 over the 063...mostly because of the dial...love the tuxedo dial on the 029...however, this one is nice too...the 029/063 with the 2893 mvt should be part of any serious pam rep collector...

See the the differences side by side.

Thanks guys.

Yeah... and it didn't leave my eyes and hands since I collected it back from my watchsmith.

My PAM063 is near perfection. Even an expert have to have eagle eyes to see the flaws. Unless they compare it with a gen or gen pic.

Beside the usual flaws like CG, Crown, datefont, cyclop. Wanna to know where are the other flaws?

See pic below

Left is gen and right is rep

1264034818_a76a026f02_o.jpg

1.) Gen has shorter GMT hand
2.) The number "6" and "9" is slimmer than the rep
3.) The lever pin on the gen CG is beautifully flushed while the rep is not although it is very close visually
4.) The letter "A" font on the word "Panerai" is incorrect on the dial

Yeah.. I am a little anal but will not pursue further to get a gen dial. I am already a very happy man.

Very nice GMT, taiji!

I've never really laid my eyes on the GMT (never interested in 'em) until I saw your pics. You're a bad man. Your GMT is starting to give me the itch.

I think the stainless band compliments the ones with the date window better. Very nice

I have an 063 with many of the same mods (datewheel, cyclops, gen hands, etc).

I can not remember who did this analysis - but for those of us who have the gen hands - it turns out that the these are not significantly different from the rep hands.

The REAL difference is the dial. Specifically, the GMT hour markings 1-24, the hour markings, etc are further away from the center of the dial (say 1MM) - meaning closer to the edge of the case. That is what makes the hands look too long.

If the rep makers could make a new dial (and fix those giveaway "A's" in PANERAI) - you would basically have a perfect rep. I wish there were enough of us to want this fix as to warrent someone contracting the development of this dial. THis is one of the best Panerai's in my opinion.

I guess one could always pursue a gen dial - but that is highly unlikely to be feasible.

To spice things up... a PAM rep watch box make the whole things even "more" complete and "perfect"

@csken69

Thanks for inputting more info. I don't think a gen or OEM dial is feasible too.

Great looking watch. I have mine getting the datewheel and cyclops replaced as we speak. Your pictures made me antsy for my watch back. :)

Question.... what lume does the 063 have? Is it somewhere inbetween C1 and C3? A mixture maybe? I'm having mine done in C3 regardless because I like it but was wondering what the gen has.
