I dont know what took me so long. I always see them floating around, I always want one but never do it. Well, I finally did and I love it!!! I do wish the case was a couple mm's bigger, but I do like very much. Im going to order a domed sapphire from Dagaz, which will make it perfect, but here is it as it sits. Before and after shots of the matte dial and relume.

Good job, and nice watch. I'm with you on the size- seems like so many of the great watches are made for gurlymen.... :(

Very Nice!

I've wanted this for a while too but didn't pull the trigger once they announced the bp ff super rep. But then I got tired of waiting and jumped on a blue Prometheus Sailfish. Which I love but now makes it harder to justify getting the FF when it's finally released.

Lol. Who am I kidding. I'm probably going to be jumping on this ff as soon as it comes out. I even got the blue Prometheus instead of black so it would be different enough.

It ain't complete till it doesn't get a lumed bezel :)

You know, I am so sad right now. I tried taking the insert out and I slightly cracked the insert :(

It's hardly noticeable, but its all I see. Yobokies sells lumed inserts right? I'm gonna need a new one from somewhere because this one is going to get to me. If I can source a new insert, I'll be forced to convert this to a BB.

That sucks :( , on the bright side you'll get a kick ass lumed bezel. Yes, Yobokies has them.

From WUS on removal of this bezel

"So, what I did was:
1. I applied a few drops of ZIPPO LIGHTER FLUID along the inside rim. (Lighter fluid neutralizes most adhesives for the duration that it is in contact with it. Adhesion of the tape is restored as soon as the fluid is evaporated.) This caused the INSERT's contact to the groove to become a bit looser, less tight. This gave me JUST ENOUGH wiggle room to...
2. Then, slide in the sharpest EXACTO blade VERY CAREFULLY between the INSERT and the groove. Patience!
3. The thickness of the blade alone was enough to create a gap. Very small, but big enough for me to do the next thing,
4. Applied another drop of the lighter fluid into said gap.
5. At this scale, that drop is a FLOOD! This had the effect of quickly loosening the tape's adhesion all around that point - about 1/6 of the circle of the insert.
6. More drops - while maintaining the slight pressure/lift with the blade. Patience.
7. More drops + lift.... Patience, till the INSERT is off."

These inserts are very easy to crack.. Chance to grab a lumed bezel. Downside is that the numbers are white on them instead of gold..

Yea, that's the issue I'm having right now. Its not even about the cost of swapping out for a silver dial/hand set... I just like the gold. Its really not that bad, I might just live with it. I would like a lumed bezel but I do not want white numbers. I wish I could just buy an engraved insert and fill it with a vintagish pigment. A light brown would be closer than white.

What does the back of the lumed bezel look like? Would I be able to remove the white and relume?

gorgeous watch!
Thank you! I love it. Just wish Seiko would have gone with a 44mm case.

It´s a great build and it looks fantastic. Loving Yours too. Just used a Stanley knife and lots, lots of patience once it started coming off it was easy. Yobokies lumed insert is fantastic, totally changed the character of the watch - it´s not bright white, very matte and it goes well with the gold hands and dial - never even thought about it. And the quality on these Seikos is great - think I´ll wait at least for the V2 of the Blancpain rep - curious to see which issues the buyers get at that pricetag. Wearing mine right now.

^^^

Do you have a day shot of the insert against the gold dial? And do you have the hardlex crystal or a coated sapphire?

I decided that I probably cant live with a cracked insert. Im not really a fan of the design of the yobokies though. I can live with the color, but I wish he had made the design the same as the stock one. In the mean time, I figured I would screw around with the cracked insert. I scratches away a lot of the paint, filled in with a vintage pigment and I'll spray a layer of black once it cures. Its definitely not the cleanest lines, but its not too bad. From a distance, its wearable.

Yea, but if its just painted on like the stock insert, I'd probably screw it up trying to scratch off the old stuff... much like I did with this insert. Too difficult to cleanly remove painted on stuff.

Im considering stripping the entire insert and have a solid ring of lume. If anything, I would want just an index @12, other than that why the hell not... its getting replaced anyways.
