Fiddy Winding Question please....

I just got my new Fiddy 127 yesterday and I initially wound it 20 to 25 turns of the crown... which... on most watches.... usually is good for at least 24 hours.
I did that around noon.
there was some real resistance too even at that low number of turns.

well.... much to my surprise.... at 8:20pm ..... the watch STOPPED.
I never had that happen on a manual wind watch.

My 604 has the same 6497 movement in it.... and it goes a LONG time in between winds.

I guess my question is.....

Is this a different kind of movement in the fiddy ? or the same as in the 604 ?

ALSO .... is there a break in period for this movement ?

I talked to the TD about it.... and he said it wasn't unusual.... and suggested winding it a bit every 4 to 6 hours for the first few weeks to keep it running.
Is this kind of thing common ?
will the watch ' break in' or does something sound wrong here ?

I'd like to know what your experience has been.

thanks

Just wind it until it won't wind anymore then see how long it runs until it stops.

Just wind it until it won't wind anymore then see how long it runs until it stops.

The 25 or so turns that I did with the watch was about as far as I felt I could take it. It was VERY tight and the resistance felt like it should feel when
you have fully wound a watch. in fact.... the winding felt tight from the start when the watch was stopped....... and got even tighter.

somehow.... something just doesn't seem quite right with that..... but then......I don't really know anything about watches beyond how to wind and take care of them.
so.... that's why I wanted to ask the board here about this kind of thing.

what would make it feel so stiff from the start of winding when the watch has stopped ?

anyway.... thanks for your help.

It should not feel very stiff especially when it is wound down. Also, when the watch is fully wound it simply won't turn anymore. Of course you can force it, but it would be significant force required to force it past being fully wound. It sounds like your movement isn't winding right :(

well that's interesting.
the watch does feel very stiff from the start of winding. If that is the case..... Is this something where the watch should be sent back to the TD or.... a situation where I should send it to someone to work on it ?
Bad luck here because it is brand new. I can't believe the TD didn't catch this.
thanks

It's not something the TD checks. If the watch is not running, then you wind up the crown and it runs, that's the extent of checking. They won't be counting how many winds. It's better to have a local watch smith check it rather than send it back. Ask your TD if he's willing to at least share in the cost of repair.

thanks mysterio.... I'll think about doing that. I have to find a guy first to work on it.
I was thinking about having Marlin mod it for me anyway... I sent him a PM but not sure when I will hear back from him.

has anyone used his modding services recently ?

thanks
