Fiddy fitted with plexiglas

I just discovered Silix's web site, particularly his Fiddy with superlumed dial. His version of the watch comes fitted with plexiglas though. What is your take on this? Is it authentic to use it on this particular model and did Panerai ever made a 1950 with plexi?

I think perhaps he just means mineral crystal (synthetic sapphire) and not the actual plexiglas crystal that is found in the California dial, etc.

Price reflects a fake sapphire crystal.

And no - there is no modern 1950 with plexiglas - just sapphire.

Sorry - yes, it looks like they've done a version with a domed plexiglas crystal (as they offer both mineral and sapphire versions also).


But to answer your question - no, it's not accurate - unless you compare to vintage models.

And if it's "vintage" it shouldn't say 1950 on the dial. :wink:
