Fiddy Distortion...Just Me?

Well,,,,,,,the short version. Received the Most Ultimate Fiddy from DVN around a month ago. As David put it, it was indeed on steroids, ran 5 minutes fast per hour. So,,,,,sent it back to Hong Kong. Got it back a few weeks later along with my new 3646 Deco. Deco had a shattered crystal. Fiddy had scratches on the case. Sent both back to Hong Kong. Got the Fiddy and the Deco back today. Deco is beautiful, so is the Fiddy, but...........I'm looking at the watch and the crystal seems distorted. It looks as if the dial itself is sunken, as if the cannon pin was screwed in too tight. That I doubt, so after more staring and looking, I'm convinced it is the crystal. At almost any angle, I see a distorted dial or distorted hands. Fiddy owners: can you give me some advice??

I've attached some photos and it's very difficult to capture exactly what the eye sees. I've set it beside the Marina M for comparison (just got that today from Chris). In the Fiddy photos, where you see the AR reflection, my eye also sees the sunken effect distortion. Photo 4 is the best showing the minute hand wavey, then pic 5 on the Marina, the minute hand is straight and true.

I'm putting this to you before I e-mail David again,,,,, man I hate to have to do that, but......Thank you for any and all imput!!

The curvature of the sapphire lens makes nearly every fiddy made, gen included have a distorted dial. Thats one of the reasons I love this watch.

Nothing to worry about stutzer, there are basically 2 types of DSN Fiddy xtal, one that 'pops' the dial and squeezes it at the edges, and another that 'breaks' the dial about 3mm in from the crystal edge, resulting in 'broken' numerals and hands.
Yours is the former type (just look at my avatar pic, it's the same DSN xtal) and nothing's wrong with it, it just distorts the dial in a different way.

Don't forget the genuine Fiddy xtal is supposed to distort the dial as well, first production pieces from 2002 came with xtal with high level of distorsion (it was quite high in profile, also known as 'superdome'), the rest of the original 1950 production came with a xtal producing a lesser distorted dial.

Hope this helps :)

Looks really distorted to me too. Maybe that's normal. Hey, but it sounds like terrible quality control for the scratched case. Is this what its like dealing with Davidson? You eventually get a really good product but you have to put up with qc bs?

Not for me, at least.
176h-crown guard lever was a tiny bit tight, a small amount of filing did the trick
113g-perfect out of the box--two days later I noticed a screw loose in the movement, sent it back, he fixed it in 2 days and gave me an extra strap
127-PERFECT right out of the box. seems about 3-5 seconds fast per day.

I must point out that the loose screw in the 113 meant nothing to me. It sucked to send it back, but how many dealers can you trust to fix it in 2 days, answer all my emails within 24 hours, and stand the test of time? There is a reason DSN has a loyal fan base. I believe that he will help me with any future problems as long as he continues to sell watches. QC issues? Maybe sometimes, but the vast majority of reviews I see here are stellar. The true test is how he deals with any issues that come up.
