Hi,

It is said that Ferrari 008 does not have any flaws, comparing to the gen.
Is it true?

Thank you

Pretty much, yes. without a loupe the only way I can tell is by the feel of the movement, which is subjective, and minor difference in the clasp. I've had both and the case, crystal, AR, and dial are all pretty much perfect. It scared me the first time I saw how close they are.

wow which PAM Fer do you have? Maybe you could do a comparison with the same no. rep. My dealers here have a bunch of them, they all looks good. BTW how much is the 008 over there? Thanks. :D

Yes, please do a review comparo of your friend's gen to the rep. That would be very cool indeed!

Hi to all,

This will be my first post here. I am a lurker for a while and bought a couple of rep since.

I own a rep Ferrari 008 and here is a small review after holding a real one in an AD:

I only found one visible flaw to the naked eyes: The luminous dot on the chrono second hand is slightly too big on the rep. This is true for all Ferrari chrono.

Holding in hands the gen feel lighter.
The leather is more flexible and look slightly more quality than the rep but not by that much.
The gen chrono pusher have a more solid feel. On the rep, each time I unscrew one I am afraid it will stay in my hand (it happen twice).
The manual winding feel smoother on the gen.
In the store it was difficult to push back and lock the crown. On the rep it seems to be easier except that you feal the winding when locking the crown.
The metal components of the clasp seems to be slightly thinner on the gen.
The AR, if any, seems to be the same for both.

Overall I have the felling that if you give both watch to someone and if they don't play with the chrono pusher they may pick the rep as the real one as it feel heavier.

Mine is about 20s a day fast and the chrono is working perfectly except you may have to reset twice to center everything.

Overall it is an almost perfect rep and is a very nice timepiece.

I will compare them once I get my 008 back from service.

Hadn't noticed the second hand dot, I'll check that again.

The actual rep strap is garbage compared to gen imo, that I took off as soon as I got mine and put a carbon panatime strap on. I should have mentioned that before, but I always assume rep straps will be replaced as they are always lacking.

I have not noticed a weight difference, however my friends gen and my rep both have aftermarket straps on.

The pushers should feel identical except for possibly the "feel" of the A7750 vs an eta 7750.
I have removed the pushers off both gen and rep and they are identical. The problem you had with your pusher is not just a rep problem. The gens have the same problem as they are the same part. In fact I had to repair my friends gen with a rep pusher, thats how I know for a fact they are identical. I took my pusher off, compared it with his remaining pusher and I couldn't tell a difference. I reattached them and they look identical on the watch. The main issue I See is that they don't apply loctite on the pushers, which I would highly recommend to anyone that owns one of these, be it rep or gen. Bad part is to do this you have to remove the movement out to get to the screw heads that are inside the case. As soon as my pusher comes in I guarantee you that I will be putting some blue all over that pusher.

no matter the watch, rep straps are a dead give away. problem is, a quality strap will run you $100 or so, throw that on to the cost of the ever increasing price in reps.

That said, is the quality of straps from our dealers here up there? If so, how would you rate each dealers straps quality?

I just put a panatime strap on mine. The carbon fiber look matches the motorsports nature of the watch nicely. Not expensive either.

Rep straps suck... always change it.... you'll be much happier... and go with a hand-made one if you can, i highly recommend it...

The 008 is very, very close to the gen... and virtually indistinguishable imo from the gen if you don't have them both handy... just make sure you're not getting out of a hyundai sporting a ferrari though... that would be the dead giveaway....

If you want a source for nice used straps (sometimes oem), then check out paneristi...

owdeguy puts it in a very good way.
I would say that this is one of the "super rep" breed. No problem with datefont.

I'm about to order this watch, but before doing so (or in the meantime) I was thinking about buying a new Panerai strap.

The only thing is that I don't know what size one should get to fit with this watch. Is it 24x24, 24x22 etc etc? I don't have a clue, since I haven't dealt with Panerai watches before, nor these third party manufactured straps. So any help and advice here would be really appreciated! :)

By the way, do you guys think that the deployant clasp that comes with the watch is good enough (not giving it all away), or do you think one should get a new buckle instead?

Cheers
