Here are the two new additions to the family. They both showed up yesterday -- one for me and one for my lovely wife! Woo-hoo!

Hey brother...I thought there was another RWI sub-forum where you could show your gens, LOL!

Very nice indeed, love that 2D Base :)

How about some comparison shots between gen, Angus and DSN 44mm cases?

cheers,
babola

I've given up trying to memorize what's what with PAM nomenclature...... so what are those gorgeous duo? Where did you get them from? Are they modded or straight from the dealer? I might even be able to interest my wife in this new hobby of mine if she received a 'baby' PAM like that. She has really tiny wrists. Would it look just too goofy?

They're gens mate...no replica stuff there at all :)

Mech is PAM002 and auto is PAM048.

It's coming, my friend. It's coming.

I'll also do a comparo between the 048 rep and the 048 gen. They are *very* close.

Yeah, these could have been posted in the Genuine Watches forum, but they ARE Panerais...

very nice, Hooligan. Base all the way....great investment as well.

you have the knowledge and background to deserve them. unlike so many rich people that just buy a watch for looks or being hip....but have no appreciation for it.

happy for and with you !

Thanks, Steven. That really means a lot, coming from you, mate!

Again, I owe the 002D to babola. He knew I was "on the hunt" for a good deal on a base dial and spotted this one before I did. Thanks, again, b!

The 048 was a no-brainer, as my wife LOVED her 048 rep from day one. Funny, it wasn't too long ago that she thought her 33mm Oris was big.

NO WONDER. i was looking at the 48 and going "WOW, is there a new rep with fixed date font?!?!" and "That date font looks so gen!"

HAHHAHHA

wow, the world was upside down for me for a second. Hey hoolie, does the gen 48 have AR on it?

here's a quickie HOOLIE GEN PAM48 comparison rep until he gets his rep and gen side by side:

Hoolie: Abject apologies for assuming that your beautiful watches were reps. I sure feel like an idiot! I did think they were fabulous looking reps, if that's any consolation. I'm also a newbie who sorta assumed that the photos on the board would all be of reps. Sorry, sorry, sorry! I really look forward to your reviews of gens. versus reps. I am curious to know how everyone else knew the watches were gens. What's the giveaway????

can't say much about the pam002. The 048 was pretty much the datefont... I have never seen one produced with the correct datefont for the 048 on reps - most likely due to lack of demands. The datefont is what sets panerai apart from every other swiss movement as it's custom boldness is made for that company.

So either someone slapped a really good datewheel on there that's custom made, or it's a datewheel from a gen. my initial instinct was "wow that's a great rep with a new datefont" LOL

No apologies are necessary, far from it. I actually posted it here as a kind of experiment. I wanted to see who/how many would recognize them as gens. I'll be the first to admit, the 048 is REALLY tough to spot. The date mag and date font are the only 2 big tells, really. The dial print has some differences, but unless they're side by side, it's tough to spot.

crick, yes the gen has AR. It's an H series and the AR definitely has a blue color to it. It's about on par with DSN's AR crystals, IMO. The 2D, however has an even stronger blue color than DSN's crystals and my I series 210 has really weak AR with just a *hint* of blue. Once again, the only consistency at Panerai appears to be their INconsistency.

I'll start another thread with the 048 gen/rep comparo photos. It'll be good news for you 048 rep owners out there, I think. :D
