movement is a simple Asian 6497 witjout any decor.

the seller's answer :
[h=3]The watch is been sold as what I have been told about it. I have clearly stated what I know about the watch and buyer discretion is to be used. I have been told by a watch dealer who sells prestigious watches that his opinion is it is an early watch with an ETA movement. The only way to confirm what this watch is, is to send the watch to the factory. This is the reason the watch was on auction with no reserve.[/h]

Reported. Every time I see this it reinforces why I will not buy a gen off the bay.

Well I posted yesterday in the Rolex section as I found someone on TRF selling a GMT Master ii rep with ICHS for over $5K and their mods didn't catch it, and it was extremely obvious. So I think being here and growing our knowledge is the best bet to not get scammed on a gen purchase.

[h=3]i have got anothe smart answer:
How is it "obviously an Asian clone" it is listed as what I have been told it is by a dealer and as far as I am concerned they have more credentials in watches than a complete stranger on the internet. Once again it is clearly stated that there are no papers with the watch and to use your own discretion. If your not convinced then don't bid its as simple as that.

[/h]

Your previous message
so you was told that the movement is ETA( obviosly its an asian clone of ETA6497) and list its as a authentic wtch, didnt you?
you try to sell fake watch as genuine and this is a criminal act.

Amazing how many people are gifted these watches meaning the seller knows nothing about them. Very convenient. It's genuine, "but don't ask me any questions!"

This ebay seller makes me really pissed off. I knew there were scammers on the bay, but it's more rampant than I had ever imagined.

I genuinely signed up on this forum to learn how to spot fakes with ZERO intention of ever owning a rep. I wanted to get a good deal on a 90's or early 2000's submariner or Moonwatch and just didn't want to get ripped off on Ebay or from another reseller.

Here I am 6 weeks later with a rep yachtmaster on my wrist, a Sub v7 on the way, 1 too many bourbons away from the new CHS explorer, and I've already started a spreadsheet of parts to try building a 5513. FML

Ive just sent him a PM on ebay telling him to end the sale before someone gets ripped off the cheeky bastard.

Also reported. The UK is rife for this at the moment.

I gently refused .but after this i saw severals ones on ebay and i was not able to advise buyers anymore and to contact ebay each and every time...I felt the impression of being Don Quichotte fighting windmills....Ive spend so much time & energy , i simply stopped to take care of myself. its sad. we leave in a sad world!

As Edward Burke famously said (or wrote rather), "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". It is a thankless activity for the most part, although you did get offered a reward which you politely refused, bravo for that, but if everyone grew tired of reporting then these scammers will win. Let's do our small part and report it, and let the scammers get tired. ;)

his message :
I cant make any sense of your message. Am I sure I want to finish the auction? My watch forums historical? Have no idea what you are talking about.

I showed him my rusty machete and "pofff" auction ended , end of the story

Edit : I will not make the ebay police everyday , but im happy to have helped a poor watch affectionado that i just hope to see pop here to have fun with us.
