Ebay scammer link
This guy just happened to get this watch from his dad, he needs the money, it is an "official" pam. Except...it has paint missing, which wouldn't happen if it was a Ceramic, or a proper DLC/PVD coating unless you took a frickin angle grinder to the metal (it is ionically bonded), so....sorry for the guy whose gonna end up with a fake pam for 2k

For documentation purposes, I have uploaded the pictures from the listing. Often, when ebay pulls listings, the pictures get deleted. So, posts like these become almost worthless because people years later never get to see what everyone is talking about. Notice how the Lume is flaking and cracking? I would expect that on a really old watch, but this model is from 2002 (supposedly)

Pretty sure DLC coating is hard to scratch off...since it is....part of the metal. You have to really bash it to scrape it off (in reply to the deleted comment that said it is easy to scratch off, that the coating on guns can be scratched off)

It's supposedly a PAM594, released in 2014, part of the limited run of PAM785 sets (the white one is the PAM602) so the chances of the lume flaking would be even less. Looks to be a V6F version because of the improved serif font on the dial and it's using the incorrect modern hands (DSN's version used the correct Pre-V hands). Maybe he pressed an extra zero and was only asking 200 for it (which even then isn't a great deal considering you can get a brand new one for $218).

When I asked him, he said it was a model PAM785....the listing says PAM422....now you're saying it's a PAM594? Gosh, this is confusing...

It's not confusing. The watch is a PAM594, but as part of the set (with the other one being the white dial PAM602), it's a PAM785.

Sent him a messge. "
So, you say it's a PAM785. Yet, the listing says it is a PAM422, but when I run the serial number, it shows up as a PAM594. A sub set of the PAM785 series, but the hands on the watch are from a PAM127. Either you're extremely unfortunate, or you're trying to pass off a fake as a real and scam people out of money. :)"

I was wondering if anyone else noticed the crack den he lived in...
I commented on that above. Just the type of guy to be sporting a genuine Panerai.

"Idk man, my dad gave it to me or sumthin, idk about it, ebay told me it was that kind." I hope the person who gets it isn't too pissed that they bought a crappy fake...

"Well, the auction lists it as a 00422. If it is real, why are you selling it for so cheap? That watch sells for $19,000. Why didn't you take it to an authorized watch dealer for authentication and sale?" He knows it is fake.

It sold. sadly.

There are times when eBay inexplicably doesn't pull suspicious ads like this, it's very frustrating. But let's keep on reporting so the number of scammed victims does not increase. Who knows maybe the person who bought that would be joining with a "Is this a gen PAM422 or a gen PAM785" thread.
