Fake, gen or franken?

Long story short - a guy from a forum bought this Panerai from Firenze, Italy (pictures below). Suspected it might be fake and had it checked by an AD. The AD said they werent able to establish whether it was fake or not [emoji15]. So they sent the watch to Panerai in the Netherlands. After 5-6 months he finally has the watch back. However Panerai has not been able to establish whether it was fake or not. I know it sounds crazy - can any of you tell from the pictures below whether it gen, fake or franken?

It does sound strange that it was sent to Panerai and they weren't able to confirm. I highly doubt that.

Wait...I feel something tingling...yeah... :bsmeter:

Can't take photos worth shit, which is probably intentional since clear photos would enable those in the know to call it out. But the swan neck looks strange like it's not touching the dagger, nor the micrometric screw (then again, it might be the blur). Also the swan neck shape does not look like the gen pics I've seen. CG pin looks like it's not flush either. Again better pictures would help.

So it wasn't sent to Panerai in netherlands, it was sent to a service-center that probably quickly looked at it and thought it was better to just send it to switzerland for certain confirmation. In switzerland it was then confirmed a fake and sent back.

Super Reps Temple
The most funny part is that the guy actually thinks that, if it was "not possible to tell if it's gen or not" by the actual brand itself, some folks with 3 pics could tell it on a forum...

The OP on the movement looks like a rep and the MM screw looks to be short, bottoming out at the head of the screw.

I could be wrong as I’m no expert. But that would be my educated guess.

OP,
I'm breaking this down as to better understand your shared story from a guy on another forum for a watch that is not even yours:
1. Which Forum was this "guy" posting from?
2. Did this guy disclose the type of source he purchased from in Italy?
AD?, TD?, M2M?, Some guy on a street corner?
3. Did this guy disclose his purchase price?
4. What reason(s) caused him to 'suspect' the authenticity of the watch?
5. Did the AD he took the watch to offer an explanation as to why they were unable to confirm gen or fake?
Seems a bit strange that an AD selling Panerai wouldn't know specs on a watch they had obtained authorization to sell. And is it realistic that the AD would send it to Panerai just to provide authenticity?
6. After 6 months, Panerai was unable to identify authenticity of their watch? Seems highly unlikely vs "seemingly crazy" as you have commented.
7. Given the unlikely facts you have shared stating neither the AD nor Panerai could establish authenticity. Why would you feel that members on this forum would seriously consider verifying authenticity based on this rather unbelievable story?

OP, your post prompts me to ask questions maybe you could answer, like:
What motivated you to share another guys post from another forum about a watch that isn't yours? Or is it? If this guy from another forum was unable to obtain confirmation of authenticity by another forums members, AD or from Panerai ( the watch makers themselves )
What was your point in doing it all over again?

Your motivation to post this based on the facts you have provided, IMHO is Questionable to say the least. Do you honestly expect the answer(s) to your post based on the 3 poor quality photos you provided ?

Your reason(s) for posting is even blurrier than your photos. Maybe a little more background to better establish the relavence and importance of your post would make it seem less like total B.S. to me. A little more consideration as to the believability of this story from another guy or yourself would help.

Hong Kong
in Hong Kong, the official authentication process for Panerai does take up to 6 months from what i have read (as reported by various members on local sales / forum) and the authentication cost isn't cheap

therefore, a lot of private buyers and second hand watch shops (in Hong Kong) prefer not to buy Panerai without complete box set / COSC cert / birth card

but if Panerai concludes with an inconclusive opinion after their attempt at authenticating... then that is REALLY scary to know how far reps have come

the 'panerai problem' continues

e.g. (for Chinese readers)
Panerai ????????, ??????, ?CS??????(??, ????), ????????????(??????), ????????????, ??????! ????, ??, ???????????????, ??????, ???????,????(??????), ??????, ????????????, ??????, ??????????, ?????. ???????????! ???????????????, ?????!!

The watch was deemed to be a fake, according to the source provided. So what was the purpose of this thread OP?
