(Not sure where this goes)

This watch has been offered to me. No papers, box or anything.

The asking price is cheap but not thaaat cheap.

From these shots, are there any obvious tells? How could I verify it in person?

Many thanks

You can verify in person by downloading a timegrapher app on your phone. On Android there's one called Watch Accuracy App. It will measure the beat rate of the movement. A genuine Omega movement will beat at 25,200 VPH and a fake will beat at 28,000 VPH.

Great tips, this avoids moving a Weishi timegrapher

28,800 VPH. Reps use a 2824 as a base for the movement so it ticks 8 times a second or 6 times a second / 21,600 VPH if it's a low tier rep. Real Omega calibers are weird because of the coaxial escapement and ticks 7 times a second which makes them easy to spot with a timegrapher or timegrapher app.

Not all of them do. These days the standard movement frequency for inhouse (Rolex, AP, PP...) and off the shelf movements (ETA, Sellita, Miyota...) is 4 Hz or 28,800 vph/bph. Their asian clone counterparts will therefore also beat at the same frequency.

Some watchmakers (like Zenith and Grand Seiko) use higher frequency movements and pride themselves for that.

Omega movements have a co-axial escapement. Over time, Omega determined that the optimal frequency for these movements was 3,5 Hz or 25,200 vph/bph.

Actually that unusual frequency is not the direct result of the co-axial escapement but rather a choice by Omega.

Co-axial movements can and do beat at the standard frequencies of 3 or 4 Hz. The 9300 series beat at a standard 4 Hz frequency while the 3861 movement found of the current Speedy Pro beats at a standard 3 Hz frequency.

They can but they originally went with 3.5hz because of reliability issues with 4hz. They fixed that later but stuck with the lower beat rate. Good anti replica tactic if nothing else.
