Factory efforts with 40mm sizes

I'm curious as to what the Paneristi here think about how much time/effort/resources are being put into the continued creation of improved or new 40mm reps. Obviously there are less total 40mm gen options which is likely to decrease the desire of factories to work on them (less interchangeability). Furthermore, as you can easily tell by the attitude here, the 40mm is not a well liked size in general. My research (and I am not a hardcore PAM lover, so excuse me if it's dated or straight up incorrect) shows that one of your better options is the "newer" 048 (the ALE guide doesn't seem to incorporate this newer version yet) which you can see on a number of sites. However, it still has some pretty significant flaws, most prominent being the date wheel color. Others have mentioned issues with the CG as well.

Is the general consensus to not hold one's breath expecting a truly 1st class (forget super rep) rep in the 40mm size?

Thank you for your input. Though I don't visit often to this section of the boards, you guys have some of the most impressive and organized research and data available.

(NB: please let's not turn this into a "just wear a 42mm" discussion)

It's all about demand. IMHO in the Pam world 40mm market is simply too small for the factory to do anything.

Never thought I would say this "size matters in the Pam world". And yes I m referring to the watch and the wrist lol

It's such a shame but you're absolutely right. All these 47mm are even getting more love!

I picked up a 049 from DSN for my old lady -- she loves it and I must say its a pretty darn good effort. I would start with DSN and see what he has in stock.
