I’ve been asked twice about the watch I was wearing at the time and I answered immediately “15 quid off eBay” and on both occasions they replied “yeah, right!”…I didn’t say anything else, I just gave them a knowing look
On another occasion, a guy I meet regularly at various events, who I know is a watch nut, said to me “wow, nice Milgauss!” I replied honestly and said I built it from parts and his reply was “fair play” I just wear them all with confidence, gens and reps, I enjoy them and have no reason to make out I’m a Bugatti owner…though I have to tell yo7, I’ve put a tow bar on my Veyron so I can hook up the trailer to take my gardening tools down to the allotment…

In airport at jfk and guy says nice watch. Flashed his and we went on our way taking about how much we enjoy it.
