I know, I know, many would feel it is sacrilege to put an exhibition case back on the 243 since the gen is closed. However, I always prefer to see the movement and am just wondering if an open case back exists that would fit the 243. Anyone ever tried this or have any ideas? Thank you!

The caseback for one of the 1950s cased PAMs like the PAM312 would probably fit it. Not that there's anything particularly interesting about the A7750 movement in the PAM243 but as they say different strokes for different folks.

I acquired this display case back from a 1950s Pam, not sure the model but it does not fit the 243. Thread diameter is too wide... Can any other members of our esteemed Pam consulting team weigh in to help solve this puzzle?

ALE7575, if you're reading this, any thoughts??

Hello. I racked my head about your question and here's my updated opinion.

The caseback for a 1950s cased PAM like the PAM312/359 will not fit the PAM243. We are talking about the latest version of the said models. The movements in these are different, the PAM243 using the OPIII and the PAM312 the P9000.

That said, the version from where you got the caseback is a low-end version, apparent from the lack of proper markings on the caseback.

Hey Mysterio, thanks for the insight! This has proved to be a challenging puzzle indeed. I wonder if there are any genuine 44mm Pam diver or 1950's style models that might be potential candidates?

I think Sub have different thread from regular watches.
I don't know any display SUB 44mm, only 47mm

Regarding caseback specialist you could consult jacob1 of ReepGeek. He makes custom casebacks and maybe can help you

But he is usually used to make more accurate casebacks no less accurate ones !! LOL

ALE, thank you so much for the referral, I will definitely follow up over at RG. Obviously accuracy is not my biggest concern... I enjoy the chase and customizing for my own enjoyment!

If it wasn't such a pain in the butt to get my 243 Caseback off, I'd give you the thread diameter you need. GUARANTEED, there is one out there that will work. Maybe off of one of the 45mm radiomirs? Do you have a caseback opener and a digital caliper?

Hi Grimlock, I feel the same way, there must be something out there that would fit! Great idea to take a measurement of the case back. Here is the 243 case back, looks like the inside thread diameter is about 32mm:

Here is the 1950's case back I acquired that does not fit, thread diameter looks to be about 37mm (too wide to fit the 243).

I set the non-fitting case back on my 243 just to mock up what I'm trying to achieve!

I wonder if a case back from a 305 might actually fit? I know case is 47mm...but maybe there's a chance??
