Hi,

My Palp crowns finally came in. I installed one for my 177H and now it's fully modified! The new crowns seem a little different though. The thread doesn't go all the way to the end only quarter ways. I buffed out the crown some to match the case. It had a dark matte finish in stock form and the buffing gave it a lighter tone and shines like the titanium case.

Here are the mods:

Davidsen hands
Palp crown
Super Lume

The cannon pin and hour wheel was not needed since this has an Asian 6497. The watch is from EL and strap Toscana Capriccio Il Mupetto if you're wondering.

Enjoy.

Awesome pics. Good job.

What do you mean the 6497 Asian does not need cannon pin upgrade?

That is right!

Remove the REP hands and put on Davidsens. Sits flush!

Great job altogether ED !

Yes, you're correct about the faux Ti finish on Palp crowns, they're actually beadblasted steel crowns to make them a bit closer in look and feel to the real Ti. However beadblasting gives them a subdued matte finish not quite 1:1 with the rest of the Ti case, so light polishing does the job, just as you did.

Did you have to sand-odd the inner lever tip (the one that pushes against the crown)? I had to do it on mine since the inside plate on Palp crowns is a little bit thicker than on standard rep crown. Had to file off the stem on mine a bit as well. :)

wear it in good health

cheers,
babola

No I didn't sand the tip off. With a little force it snaps in place just like a buckle. I made the stem short enough so the crown sits flush without the double gaskets. When the gaskets were put in the crown sits away from the case a little so when the lever is closed it pushes the crown in flush. I don't know if this is good or not but It makes me think that area is water resistant. 8)

Is this true for all asian 6497 PAM reps? If it is this is awesome. So davidsen hands + lume job
and u got urself a nice looking rep.
Which hands does he carry? More specifically for a 114 which hands should i be ordering?

Evil,

What did you use to polish the crown? thanks.

I used a rotary tool with a felt attachment, cloth and liquid abrasive.

I started out with the machine then finished it off with the cloth to get to the hard to reach areas.

I'm not sure if this is the case for all Asian 6497.

Davidsen carries an assortment of hands just ask him for a specific set of hands you're looking for.
