So I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico last week on my honeymoon. We found a store that carries nearly every high-end watch imaginable. My lovely bride, who supports my fetish, suggested we go in and spend some time looking.
I tried on Patek, J-L, IWC, Channel, Hublot, Cartier, AP - you name it (except the common brands like Rolex, Tag, Omega, Oris, etc).
Then my wife called me over to one she REALLY liked. A very cool watch with an interesting movement. Dial hour markers (like a date window) at 12 and a retrograde minute hand. Gerald Genta - never heard of it. But all the models were REALLY cool! http://www.geraldgenta.com/index_en.htm

I tried on the Arena Biretro Chrono version like this:
http://www.timeofswitzerland.com/Gerald-Genta-Arena-Chrono-Quattro-Retro-ABC.Y.66.295.CN.BD_e.cfm
and really loved the look, feel, fit, etc.
How much, you ask??

$31,690.00  (although the seller I linked above has it for only $24,300)

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the cleanness of the Arena Biretro non-chrono which is only $15,000. http://www.timeofswitzerland.com/Gerald-Genta-Arena-Bi-Retro-BSP.Y.55.279.CB.BD_e.cfm My wife says it's on the list for later. I say it's still wayyyy too much money.
So what do you guys know about this brand? Any reps or plans to rep out there?
Are they starting with an ETA movement, or is it all in-house?

By the way - here's their retrograde Tourbillon (45mm platinum case with gold rotor, etc). Check out the price! http://www.timeofswitzerland.com/Gerald-Genta-Arena-Tourbillon-ATR.Y.75.913.CN.BD_e.cfm

I'm really digging these watches!!!

They have made their mark over the years with very expensive Mickey Mouse retrograde watches. No joke! I'm not kidding!

Hes a well known watch designer responsible for some of the best watches and designs such as Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, PatekPhilippe Nautilus, Vacheron Constantin ‘222‘ (Overseas) and the IWC Ingenieur.

I beleive he is now working with with Hublot (could be wrong). Always woundered why hublot has similar design to Audemars

Both the watch and the man are top class IMHO.
Great pieces that appear to hold value well.

A very late precision...The Vacheron Constantin 222 design is often credited to Gerald Genta but its in fact Jorg Hysek who designed this one.
