They superficially look like them but nowhere near the gen.

That's exactly what we try to do every day here, no?

I suppose so yes, that is the point of this hobby. Some of the reps out there now are getting close. But I think we all know that a true 1:1 rep isn't going to happen - possibly ever. You simply can't compare a $400 budget to $8-10k one, albeit the latter being grossly overpriced. The difference is always going to be in the finer details even if the superficial is perfectly replicated. Those finer details are always going to be difficult to replicate because they cost skill and man hours to create - which is difficult to afford when you're on a $400 budget.

I don't know where you guys are getting your numbers (and maybe there's a confusion on semantics), but the Equation of Time complication (like the 516 & 601) are closer to $15-20k. Now if you're talking about the Big Kahuna Galileo Special Edition, that a cool quarter of a million for one of those bad boys.

However; if we're talking about the shark-tooth power reserve indicator, I wouldn't be surprised to see a better rep of that pretty soon -- whether it functions properly is another story haha.

Oh good lord no mate! EoT is the single most difficult complication possible; sidereal time is difficult enough for a quartz watch to compute let alone a mechanical so no cheap Chinese movement will ever do it.

Ah yes, sorry misread the title.
