New to the site and really enjoying it. Going to dip my toe into the water with this entry level PAM 386.

Spec is:

Wondered what thoughts were amongst the Panerai Rep lovers here on this version and the TD I'm dealing with?

First off, welcome to the site and welcome to the Risti Brotherhood. :)

For the watch itself, I would spend $30 more on the latest version that has the P.9000 clone movement that has the balance wheel @7 as per gen and also has the smoked sapphire crystal caseback as per gen as well, something that the slightly cheaper version does not have. If these two "tells" are not worth your $30 then go ahead and purchase the one on torobravo's site.

As for feedback to the dealer himself, toro has proven to be quite capable and accomodating. I would ask him if he can source the version I am talking about. Here is the link on puretime's website.

Gwt the VSF version (mentioned above). Its the best on the market right now...I promise you, if you go for the "entry level" budget model...it will slowly eat away at you that you dont have the best :) Thats how it happened to me...Im a happy VSF'er now.

Got myself a nice black rubber strap with the PVD buckle too....

Agreed, spend the extra $30. Money well spent, especially when you decide to flip it.

Just an FYI, as far as passability (love that word), the 386 may technically be a fantasy model. It was announced by Panerai, but never released. If you want something close to gen (gen being a model that was actually released) then go for the VSF 441 GMT. Same build quality as the 386. I ended up buying both since I couldnt decide.

Good to know - thanks! I think Panerai missed a trick not releasing this one. I'm happy to have a fantasy model as my first foray into Pam Rep world. Inevitably the PAM111 will follow....;)

I think Panerai decided not to push through with the PAM386 because they were having so many problems with the composite case. By the time they fixed it, there was already the PAM441 Ceramica and the PAM438 Tuttonero using a P.9xxx movement. They did however release the PAM375 which was announced at the same time as the PAM386 during the SIHH2011 four years later in 2015 because the P.3000 manual movement wasn't as widespread in use as the P.9000 in the Panerai line up (plus they probably wanted to take one watch off of the announced but never released list). :)

I had the V1 and V2 386's and remembered the PVD to have a gloriously subtle purple/brown/grey/black iridescence -- nice pick for your first PAM and enjoy!!

Forgot to add, that I'm not sure if the black strap will suit your fancy with this model. I think a lighter or medium brown looks better with the composite PVD color scheme. The black would look better on the 441 IMO, but give it a gander when you get the watch in hand ...

Hi guys! Sorry to dig up an old thread but I was looking at the panerai site and saw that the 441 has a blue second hand: https://www.panerai.com/es/collections/watch-collection/luminor/pam01441-luminor-gmt---44mm.html while the VSF 441 is black: https://puretime.io/pam441-o-real-c...n-brown-asso-strap-p-9001-super-clone-v2.html
Are these two different models or is the on on the panerai site an update to the 441? If so I hope vsf comes out with the one with the blue second hand, I think it looks sweet!

You probably missed the "1" in front of PAM001441. That is not the same model in that it uses the P.9010 movement instead of the P.9000 used in the PAM000441. All PAM001XXX models have that distinguishing blue seconds hand to make model identification easier. There have been no announcements regarding the PAM1441 being replicated.
