I was wondering anyone age the case before? I read somewhere throw in the sink with all the dirty dishes, silverware, etc. and wash it like it was part of your dirty dishes. Over time it get scuffs, scratches, and aged stainless look like your fork and knives. Also place it in the dish washing machine and wash it?

Any ideas?

I vintagize my cases by putting them in plastic jar with coins, keys, and other bits of scrap metal- then wrap it up in towel , stuff it in a cloth sack and throw it in the dryer with a load of laundry.

I do almost the same thing, except I also have some gravel along with the metal scraps, and the last stage is done manually by giving the whole plastic container (in my case, a 1 litre ice cream tub) a long vigorous shake. Open it, check how the case/bracelet looks, then repeat if necessary.

This is done with everything removed from the case, the caseback screwed on and the tube and top case opening masked, so they don't get damaged.

If I want to add one or two significant dings, I'll also drop the case onto the patio/rockery once or twice as well.

I also do the same but with coins instead, I did try speeding up the process by adding the case and bracelet to a jar full of coins and although it did give a good effect if you’re looking for smaller scratches like most vintage pieces have I’d recommend what the guys above have said and take a more gentle approach.

Definitely agree with Pops on securely taping off sensitive parts of the case. I usually cover the rehaut with two layers of duct tape , remove the crown tube and “screw” a piece of wood into the tube hole to protect the threads.

Now, some pics of my Willard so this thread is not worthless:

I find the edge wear and micro denting quite convincing.

That looks like it was down in the Ia Drang Valley circa ‘65. Great work
