Dumb Question about 005.

I just purchased a DSN 005 replica. (used)

While the movement was not specifically mentioned, I assume it is some variety of 6497.

Is a 6497 automatic? When I pick up the watch and shake it a few times the second hand starts to move for a few seconds.

For some reason I was under the impression that the 6497 was a manual movement and it should only start by winding it.


Maybe I just need coffee this morning.

6497 are manual wind movments.

I would guess shaking it would get the escapment to operate a bit and perhaps release a little more of the mainspring force....
