Guys, I'm ready to order my first rep. I think it will either be a Rolex datejust or a Panerai 127. I'm very worried about the customs though. As you know, Dubai is extremely strict with everything, even when letting people in. This is also a place where you can get arrested for wearing a fake rolex. What should I do? Maybe not a rolex, maybe a panerai?

Go with the trusted dealers...tell them about your situation and customs restrictions and I am sure they'll find a way out for you...that's if they are willing to take the risk.
Bear in mind that this is risky business and that if you are gonna be arrested for reps, better find a way to cover your ass. For example, opening a PO Box under another alias.

That's kind of weird. Are you sure about the laws over there?
Reason I ask is because a guy I know went there on vacation and bought like 4 reps for $35 total. (not $35 each, but $35 total.) They were fantasy models but better than your average canal street rep. He said he just went up to a local shop and they had them on display.

Hi Dubaiman, last Winter I was in Dubai for several days (by the way is an awesome city) and there in Dubai you have a place called: "Dragon Center" and from my understanding this is the biggest market in the world (outside China) for Chinese products.
I bet you a PAM that if you go there and ask a couple of chinese (I remember there were quite many chinese in Dubai), finally they will offer you the reps, now you only need to find a good and reliabre supplier.

Greetings from Qatar. We have the same problem here. For the benefit of outsiders, yes you can buy fake products here but the law is their law which means they can do what ever they want! Back to your watch problem. I shipped 4 watches from Andrew via Fedex. When I received the envelope the watches had been removed from the box and where lying loose in the envelope. Nothing was taken.
All packages and parcels are x-rayed but as you know just like at the airport nobody pays any attention to the screen. I have found that registered mail is the best option because the post office has a high volume and not much time to check everything. Whereas people send valuable things via, Fedex, DHL etc .

Choosing between the two, for reasons of customs inspection, a 127 with a leather strap draws much less attention than a Rolex which shows up on xray more visibly. Panerai is not as well know either and (in my opinion) a 127 is a magnificent watch that beats any Rolex . The gens sell for 12,500 now and the fiddy is on it's way to becoming a legend

So far I had no problems with customs in either KSA or UAE, to be honest I was under the impression there is no
customs as I haven't gone through any kind of check point ! All they do is pass your stuff through an x-ray machine
checking for contraband "shapes" like guns, bottles (alcohol in KSA) ect...
Nobody will bother with what you have on your hand, nobody really cares as long as you don't have drugs, alcohol (KSA)
or guns...

3/4 of the 1.2 km long mall was empty, some interesting electronics places but all with the same stuff (mice, memory sticks and replica GSM phones), lots of clothes, and houseware stuff...
After a great deal of walking, I managed to locate a couple of watch dealers all dealing with 5 dollar quartz crap. All when asked came up with canal street fantasy reps (breitling mostly which some idiots were buying) , as well as 20 dollar canal street rolies and breits !!
On the taxi ride back to Dubai (the mall was about 40 km away from the center and a total of 180 Dirhams worth of taxi ride) I regretted not getting a couple of the crappy reps just for parts... Maybe next time
But Dubai is famous for it's duty free gold sales in the airport !! you can get very good 21 carat (arabic bled) traditional jewelry which are sold for just the duty free gold value...
