DSN PAM089 Question?

Is the 089 offered by DSN still the same listed in his post from April '08 or has it been upgraded since?

I think I'm falling in love with this watch and will have to order one soon. The updated hands look great, and I haven't found another dealer offering this upgrade. Also, is the price still $350 with shipping or has it come down a bit?

I bought the 088 from him. A very similar watch & it is now my favourite.

You will be dissapointed if you don't buy this model. As for price, you need to speak to Davisen.

I love the 088 too, btw. I was going to order that, but I figured since I already had a polished SS 111H on order, I'd get the Ti watch for a little variety. :wink: I love the antracite dial too!

I've read a few discussions about the 089 from DSN and that other pair of dealers, who are frowned on here . His hour hand is still not the correct size, on his older dials (and maybe his current one) the seconds sub-dial was/is a dark brown instead of black like the gen and his titanium case back has the wrong markings and is "acid etched" instead of engraved - so it will fade faster than the other engraved ti backs. Putting aside these criticisms the DSN 089 is a great buy, also you never know when buying from David, he is always updating and improving (unfortunately also occasionally "downgrading") his watch offerings, but doesn't always update his site. As an example, when you get your 089, you should find that the bezel is much better than the one pictured on his site, a lot closer to the genuine.

Please don't forget to post some pictures of your new DSN 089 when you get it.

EDIT: are you sure it was $350, I thought it was a bit less (just got a quote from him last week). I've got an 089 from an unknown dealer, and have an older DSN 089 on its way from a member on another board, so you could say I like this model .

Actually, these are the same offering (a DSN 089), they just show the watch at different stages of which he had made changes - he only sells one 089. Some picture a blue/turquoise dial, other the correct grey anthracite dial with black sub-dial. Unfortunately, for me, he discontinued the blue/turquoise dial, as I really like it - however, no PAM ever had this colour of dial. Ask for a picture of what his latest version looks like. It should be a grey dial with black-sub dial (at one point the sub-dial was brownish), and should have a better bezel than those pictured. I believe he may also have updated the date-wheel font to be thicker.

NOTE: He has "upgraded" the GMT hands, but the hour hand still has a larger lume area than the gen.

Yeah Drulee...the hour hand is still a bit larger in lume area than gen, but DSN is the only dealer that I could find that didn't have the super skinny minute hand...also, he has the smaller triangle on the GMT hand rather than the stretched out one... As far as hands go, DSN's are, by far, closest to gen.

Also, he has updated the date font to a thicker font which nearly fills the entire date window, as per gen. The caseback "engraving" looked pretty good to me in the photos! And if that is "acid" etched, I would be curious to know what acid...that would be some serious mols!

His titanium backs are definitely acid etched, when it arrives you will be able to verify this for yourself I've just received two DSN GMT watches (088 and 228) and I've got no complaint with the hands, I actually prefer the larger hour hand, just wanted to point out to you that the gen is smaller. Just glad you aren't ordering a 228
