Alright, I've been wearing this watch all weekend and I like it even more than I was expecting to, and that's saying something! I thought this watch was long-gone after the last few pieces that River found and sold a year or so ago. So, when DSN debuted these, I jumped. These new watches are miles better than the old 027/028 twins. Better lume, better crystals, sunken PR subdial - it's no contest.
It got from Hong Kong to the USA in 3 days! Lightning fast, IMO.
If you are sitting on the fence about this piece, or the 028A, don't hesitate! Buy one now.
Here are my thoughts on this watch --
The good:
+ The dial - the aged tritium look lume is really good. No more too orange lume. *SUNKEN PR SUBDIAL*!!! "T Swiss Made T" looks great.
+ The seconds hand - FINALLY the lume dot is in the correct position!
+ Crystal/cyclops - the cyclops is improved to the point where I won't bother fussing with an upgrade and no AR on the crystal.
+ Case - This appears to be a "standard" rep case, instead of one of DSN's proprietary cases. Which is good, because the bezel isn't quite as tall and the crown is centered in the case (front to back).
+ Case back - The markings look really good. If this was engraved and not laser etched, it'd be one of the all-time great rep case backs.
The bad:
+ The dial - the "A"s are ever-so-slightly flat on top, which is incorrect. To be fair, though, this is *really* picking nits...
+ The date font - better than in the past, but still slightly too thin. I'll upgrade if something becomes readily available, but I'm not worried about it at this point.
+ The case - lugs are slightly stubby and will limit the thickness of the straps that can be used. My gen rubber strap won't fit.
+ The crown - not great, but not awful. I'd like to see if an OEM or t60 crown will fit. To be continued...
+ The CG - again not great, but not awful. I wonder if projectologist is still working on his A-D series CG project?
Some quick and dirty pics for ya.
