Hello!

I need some help: I bought this watch on the M2M and I wanted to wear it for the first time tonight.. but I cannot set the time. If I extract the crown at the “second level” it behave the same as in the first: it just winds the movement. No movement of the hands at all.

The see through caseback shows the same movement of the gears on both crown settings.

Anything I can try?

Thanks a lot!

Can you point to me the “date” displayed on the 127? OP?

Sounds like a keyless issue. You can have it sent out for resetting / repair and perhaps regulated. You can attempt this yourself but I don't suggest it

Any of the watchsmiths, watchmakers / modders here can repair it for you. In no particular order, there's grimlocktime, strodda, tickleshoes, 2fake4u, misiekiped, vac, marlin, or katt. You might be able to find a local watchsmith who can work on homage watches.

Update: if I extract the crown, once in maybe 15 times it does set the time. The other 14 times it just winds the movement. Can this confirm a keyless issue?

I will try to find someone in Italy to fix it. It was stated as real Swiss movement by the previous owner.

If it's a Swiss Eta-Mecaline 6497-1 unitas, any watchmaker can fix it!
If it is a Chinese 17 Jewel Seagull ST36, which is identical to the Swiss 6497, buy a new one. They cost about 40 dollars (on eBay)
And have it replaced by a watchmaker!
Kind regards

Sometimes the crown guard is the problem ...so if there is not enough space to pull out the crown ... you do not really get into the second notch to set the time!
So remove the crown guard and try again, if it works, you will need to grind the inside of the crown guard to have a bit more space to pull out the crown!

A6497 is a good, reliable, cheap movements mate. It will be an easy fix or cheap replacement! Good luck!

I have not read any accounts of this happening on any factory's PAM127.

I'd have to think the seller was able to use it and set the time before he sold it? gigi77

Surely it’s the keyless works/ stem, an easy fix, you should never have to grind out the CG and I would avoid attempting this! If it’s going to a watchmaker for repair and it is the keyless works I would recommend using Swiss parts as the replacement, direct fit and more reliable.

I fully agree with Superspark69. Normally, the inside of the crown guard does NOT need to be sanded to have a bit more room to pull out the crown!
It was meant as an option if pulling the crown in the second notch works without the crown guard!
Another possibility would be that the movement holder (or movement) is loose!?
You can check that by winding the movement if the dial is visibily moveing while winding. This could be possibly also the problem!

Or the stem is slightly too long by a mm or so,

Thanks everybody!

I guess the stem is the correct length since the previous owner (I guess) did not have this problem in the past. I am waiting for him to read my message.

I will send it for repair to a forum watchsmith in a couple weeks, in the meantime if I want to wear it I will just do the "try & retry" method until the crown goes in the correct position and does allow the time set.

Just for the record, I'm the seller & I'm prpered to do all I can to resolve the matter.
The watch was bought by me directly from Davidsen, some years ago, & was bought in good faith as being a genuine Swiss movement.
So should be easy to get it repaired?

Rep or gen A6497 movement are virtually the same mechanically so either should be easy to repair by a watchmaker who knows his stuff.
