Are they as good as they seem to be. Everybody here raves over them and i am thinking about pulling the trigger on an ultimate 111H on metal bracelet and ultimate fiddy and ordering a caitlyn strap from gunny.

Asian 6497-2 (high-beat) movements can be as good as their Swiss counterpart IF it is cleaned, inspected, and serviced properly after purchase. Don't ever rely on a dealer's claim that they have done those steps. Some of the later 6497-1 (low-beat) Asian movements also fall into this category.

What sets Davidsen apart from the rest are CGs, hands, dials, good lume ect. Basicly all Pam reps have the same movements in them (classic pans). Look for engraved "officine panerai" on the bridges and you should be very satisfied after a good service.

I'm afraid that simply looking for a bridge with an engraved OP logo is no guarantee of a better movement. Also most of DSN's CGs are terrible, and usually have smaller screws holding them in, compared to other reps - this makes it harder to upgrade the CG. His Titanium CG is one of the better ones though, not perfect but better than most (but again small screws and screw holes).

He does have some unique dials, but all his auto PAM dials have a bevelled date windows, while gen PAM dials are not bevelled - minor, but still a tell.

Drulee, I was just pointing out that DSN watches are different from "stock reps" due to other things than movements, which the OP was originally asking about. ;)

And I was just pointing out some of the flaws of those differences from stock reps :)

Bang for the buck? I dunno - he's pricey. Best out of the box? For most models, yep.

I have both a DSN swiss swan neck movement and a DSN asian swan neck movement. Both work fine, never had a problem. By the way, none of my DSN A7750 GMT movements have had any problems either.

I am wearing a Caitlin strap on a 177H with a custom order finish. It is a really cool looking strap and extremely soft and comfortable despite its thickness.
