DSN 112 arrived today! It shipped from HK on 5/30, and actually made it to my office over the weekend (6/2)…didn’t open it until I got home this evening, am impressed to say the least…so without further delay, here’s my photo journal;

My overall impression is that it’s an absolutely beautiful piece. I have been into PAMs for a long time now, and this thing ROCKS! Case, CG, movement, hands, and overall fit and finish are absolutely fantastic. The CG lever locks down tight, the crown functions perfectly, the lume is gen-a-licious, and although I only set the time 2 hours ago, so far so good…my ONLY negative critique (it is a rep after all) is the stuff everyone always talks about; numbers on the case back are wrong, dial is a little squirrelly, and the CG lever is a tiny bit loose in the open position.

If anyone has any questions, requests, or feedback, say the word. In the meantime, huge kudos to DSN, and thanks for lookin!!

Thanks for the pics.

How is the "Sandwich" effect on the number markers? (ie. Is it deep enough?, is it evenly deep?, etc.)

There is nothing you can do about the caseback being wrong ;) I wouldn't worry about it.
Only about 3 numbers are incorrect anyway (OP656"8" and HXXXX/"12"00 ^^)

Crown looks great in the picture, it shines like the gen. Rep crowns are a bit dull (look almost brushed).

looks amazing....one thing i notied with dsn is that he sends high quality straps with his pams...unless you put that one on yourself. regardless, i really like that strap...looks great on the new toy!! :D

Crown is definitely nice...CG is WAY nicer than I was expecting!

Regarding the dial...Let's just say it's also better than I was expecting...I've seen some really shallow sammys, and this is NOT one of them...now does it pop exactly like a gen, to be honest, no, but it's damn close....I'm holding it under the light right now, and the depth is awesome!

yup, OTB DSN strap...first thing my wife said when she saw it was, 'nice strap'...it's not particularly high quality, but it'll do the job and it looks great!

Hows the lume on it. Your lume shot looks like its weak lume or it was not charged enough.

lume is great. same as gen. wasn't very charged and i have this new camera that i don't know how to use yet...it's a canon SD800IS and when i tried to take lume shots in the dark, it dulled the brightness...

Mojua I have that point and shoot as well. Put it in manual mode and raise the ISO and change it to macro mode.

Much better lume shot. Yes, a tripod will alleviate that problem. You can get them for like 20 to 30 bucks.

Not only flushed, but rounded on the top too ;) I think Jimmy Fu's CG came like that as well...

I wonder if someone can take the pin out and sand the top to flat, and put it back in just enough so it's flushed.

:)

What strap is that h_u?

gorgeous base btw - DSN's stuff rocks - odd thing is though, I think the numbers/thickness/sandwhich is all around better on this than on the 111H
