DSN 111h - Time for a tune up

Hi guys,

I've got a bit of a situation here.

I bought my 'ultimate' 111h from DSN in summer 2007 and its rarely been off my wrist. It keeps great time and as of the weekend, the power reserve of the ETA was still 49.5 hours, but alas, she's showing signs of age (and heavy usage).

I'll send her to Rocketeer for a full service when I hit the 2 year mark, but in the mean time the CG has started slipping, so there is a little 'play' in the lever, also there seems to be dirt, dust and muck everywhere.. (ok yes I looked with a magnifying glass...don't pretend like you don’t !!! ).

I've also noticed that no matter how much I clean or polish the SS case it just doesn't shine or sheen like it used to or like the gens do for that matter..(surely if both rep & gen case materials are the same 316 stainless, we should be able to get the same finish), or do panerai have a finishing process we don't know about.

Apart from the CG and the grubby case I'm quite content with it and I'm happy to leave it as it is, but I’ll throw the question out there .... have there been any further developments in the 'rep world' to make the DSN 111H rep look more gen like? Should I be looking a particular CG from anyone when i do that repair? Any surface treatments to give it that 'out of the box' look.

I really need your advice, help me bring 'sexy back'.

cheers :D :D

Head on over to RWG2 and see if V has any of his CGs available. That is the best CG out right now, IMO.

Other than that, give it a good scrub with a cape cod cloth and wear it some more!

Not yet ... still waiting for the crooks from the postal service to drop it off.

Have to agree with Hooligan, the Cape Cods work great on small scratches.
This cloth has saved my watches on more than one occasion.

Thanks dogma,

I don't think we've got cape cod in the UK, I'll have to get it off the bay.
