Does the VSF 1:1 8938 movement replica use a co-axial escapement?

I was reading about how the VSF AquaTerra WorldTimer uses a 1:1 clone 8938 replica movement. This presumably means the clone movement has a co-axial escapement. However I also remember reading something about the fact that co-axial movements are more expensive to make which is why rep makers tend to avoid them and this is why most Omega reps use a modified 2824 instead of a clone movement.

That got me wondering: does the clone 8938 have a co-axial escapement or is it only "1:1" in a very loose sense of the term (especially because the VSF AquaTerra WorldTimer is not a particularly expensive rep)? Presumably if it's the former rep makers have started to get the hang of things with co-axial escapements and so we might expect to see more actual clone movements made for Omega reps?

I doubt it but don't know for sure, all the Omega's I have are just dressed up with deco plates to look kinda like a Co-Axial. Of course it really makes no difference on the Solid Caseback models but on a Display Caseback anyone with even a small amount of movement knowledge can spot it if you show it to them.

It doesn’t. The “clone” 89xx movement found in VSF omegas has a standard escapement, not a co-axial escapement. I used “scare quotes” around the word clone because it’s not really a clone so much as an homage movement. It’s not just a decorated 2824, it’s a different beast with two mainsprings and a custom train wheel layout. But it’s not a clone.

Nope, they don't, no coaxial has been replicated and it never will be, that's also why there's a fundamental flaw in most coaxial Omega replicas because of the beat rate, it's 28,880 not 25200 or whatever the weird omega beat rate is.

Hm, so even the 8900 replica movement has two working barrels? I thought one of them was a fake barrel...

I thought so too, but if @dogwood says it does, then it almost certainly does, he knows more in his little finger than I do, and also I even forget what I had for lunch these days :ROFLMAO:

It may possibly perhaps maybe that cheaper rep movements in Omegas (Omegii ?) have a fake barrell, IDK ;)

I know the Aqua Terra Worldtimer has two, real, functioning barrels.

The Aqua Terra movements are semi clones, I don't really know what they're based off but I think some bastardized 7750/2824?

But the Seamaster movements are A2824 with deco plates.

Both barrels are functional for sure.

And yes there are aspects of the movement design which are like the 2824 (eg the automatic works) and the 7750 (the keyless works).
