if not, what color is it?

if i remove the ar coating, would it affect the sapphire in any ways besides being more reflective to sunlight?

I don't think the gens have AR coating. Could be wrong, though.

Gens do have AR. It is not such an obvious blue, though....really light.
You can remove it. I have never done it though. I have seen several topics about removing AR here at RWI.

Below is my 000J... very faint blue AR... think 20% of rep AR...

Remember that all genuine Panerai have single-sided AR... chief's is double-sided.... remove the outside coating and it's perfect... he did one run of single-sided and I had a 7753 powered 188 that was in that run... stunning watch...

Here's a 118 that I owned before that was in that same run.... see the faint blue on the left? That's very close to genuine.... although incorrect for a 118E.. hehe, gotta love keeping up on Panerai...

i have a dsn 111h and it has the ar coating on the inside but it's pretty visible at a certain angle.

i'm assuming it's too much compared with the genuine one. i might as well remove it. isthe ar coating even beneficial?

You can polish it off with a cape cod cloth, or I've even heard of people using automotive polish (make sure it's polish, not just wax - polish has a mild abrasive) to remove it. Keep in mind this coating is on the *inside* of the crystal, so you'll have to remove the crystal from the watch to get at the AR coating.
