So I have been reading and using the search function to try and learn what the best movement option for my first Rep purchase.
If someone experienced could verify my pathetic understanding in order to help me avoid a costly mistake and waste of my money that would be very much appreciated.

SA 3135 - Unreliable
A 3135 - Unreliable
SH 3135 - Reliable
A 2836 - More Reliable
ETA 2836 - Most Reliable

I was going to try and make my purchase with either of the 2836 movements. I want something that will last more than a couple months...

Any input is much appreciated. Thank you.

You left out 7750, the worse of them all, imo. It is a time bomb if you don't stick to very strict protocals. The ETA, is a very reliable movement. But you need to know what movements will go in what reps. Such as, Chrono? GMT? etc. They are not interchangeable.

Well UDTMIKE I am looking at buying either a Sub 116610 LN or the Sub 116613 BK... They seem to have multiple options as to what movement I can have form what I can tell?

Those are either A2824-2 or you buy an ETA 2824-2 and swap it in. As reliable as the 2836-2

Only real "ETA" option is from BK. The Chinese dealers sell franken or used ETA's in their eta sales. If from anyone but BK, just get A2836/2824.

So not much option with these two models? It's either a crap movement or I learn to take these suckers apart, buy an upgrade movement and switch it... I might have to reconsider my model choices...

The A2824 and ETA 2824 (from BK or you buy yourself) are both reliable and solid movements. Any smith can repair them also. The SA3135 is a disaster for repair. SH3135 is most gen like but has some issues also that require not cheap gen part replacements to be as reliable as a 2824/2836

Of all rep movements - the most reliable in my opinion are the A2824-2 and A2836-2.

Sorry for being such a noob but I have not read of these models having the "-2" at the end of them... I guess I missed something?

It's the actual movement. They can have different variations. 2824-2 is the standard. Same for 2836-2. Different levels (2W, etc). It's not really worth getting too far into just getting started. Saying 2824/2836 is more than enough :) many just say clone so you're already ahead
