So I got this from my trusted dealer that I've dealt with for years. I really wouldn't have questioned it however it came a scratch on the bezel. What is everyone's thoughts?

Is there any way to tell it's ceramic?

My thoughts is that it's the dlc version.

I know how you could test the case, but not the bezel

To test the case put one probe of an ohm meter in your top springbar, and the other probe on your lower spring bar.

If its ceramic, you should have no conductivity.

Is the internal construction of the case different between versions? Maybe some plastic or something to protect the ceramic? I know the carbotech was lined with a plastic ring.

I've dealt with my TD for years. I don't even ask for pics. He knows how anal I am.

And how can you pick up dlc vs ceramic??

Coldi, i was thinking the ceramic might also be lighter than a DLC case, maybe if you can find someone who has a known DLC and get a weight comparison ??

If I could find someone to weigh theirs that would be awesome.

It looks like ceramic in your pics, did you try cleaning the scratch? If it's ceramic basically it can't be scratched so you'll be able to do it.
From what I know ceramic is harder than metal and it has happened before that members thought their watch was scratched when it really wasn't.

My Tuttonero constantly catches quite exactly looking like scratches.. Every few days I clean the 'scratches' with the 'rough' side of a just damp kitchen sponge.

The 438 is my kind of daily beater for about 9 months now and the ceramic case looks like day one once I brush off the 'scratches'. The scratches usually are on the other object ;)

Disclaimer: I do NOT know or take responsibility for what happens if you use such a sponge on PVD (but I presume it would just not get the scratch off if it is a real one, while not further damaging anything. I hope. Dunno... ;) )

Cheers,
T.

Dont think anyone can distinguish PVD vs Ceramic via QC pics. What I meant was why didnt the TD pick up that scratch? If you have not seen the QC pics, then I can understand why you did not. But this is a TD you have obviously trusted a lot. Btw, what is the position your TD is taking now?

@COLDI

The case is ceramic without doubts, due to the curved inner corner of lug-midcase joint

PAM%2520508-%2520COLDI_zpsvmros3vr.jpg

SS DLC coated cases have square corner

The ceramic cannot be scratched easily, could be the bezel has “scratched” a metallic object and the bezel has metallic particles of that object
Ask your dealer for trying to erase the mark with a rubber eraser

Anyway I would be more concerned by the colour differences observed between case, bezel and CG

Looks to be ceramic but I am unsure about the case color. Anyway, I have a PAM607 (destro 508) in storage at the office, I'll weigh the watch head for you. ;)
