I just read Davidsen's comments that he won't be able to get any more Swiss 'E' movements, but that he has a few 'H' movements in stock. So...... for this newbie, what's the difference--both visually and functionally. I presume this is about the 6497 movement. I was going to get Davidsen to make me a Destro--because I'm a genuine lefty . Will I be affected by this turn of events? Will I have to beg one of you good people with a wonderful Davisdsen Destro to sell it to me or is there no real cause for alarm?

Newbie questions:

So what is the difference between 'Sausage' and 'Sandwich'?

Did they change to L SWISS L fromLSWISS MADEL in any particular year, or was it model by model?

jac, hopefully this will help:

The dials with "L Swiss L" are known as "sausage" dials because the indices are formed by engraving the shapes into the dials and then filling the engravings with Luminova. This type of dial was used from B series (1998?) until G series (2003?)

The current models in the Historic and (some?) Manifattura lines use a "sandwich" dial. That is a dial made of two layers with the Luminova sandwiched between them. The indices are cut out of the top layer, thus revealing the Luminova below. The dials will have the "L Swiss Made L" printing.

There are exceptions to the statements above in the Contemporary line from Panerai, however.
