Hello,

I think we all agree that the 111 series is coming very close to GEN. Need some help to list out what are the missing details vs GEN that needs to be corrected.

I do know that the "Y Incabloc" is still missing. Engraving still has slight difference. What else?

Regards,

I have the latest 111N and after handling a friend's gen, my conclusion is this.

Gen crystal is a tad clearer.
Fonts are a wee bit thicker on the gen.
CG lever is too tight on the rep. Gen operates smooth.
Gears are shinier, looks like high polished on gen. Rep looks almost brushed.
Engraving of "Officine Panerai" on movement plate a tad too thin on rep and color of blue ink not accurate enough. Rep looks faint. Gen is sharp and clear.
Incabloc as mentioned by thread starter.

Above are my own observations. Anyone else please feel free to correct or add on. Cheers :)

acoustix, which of those 'errors' will be noticeable when only holding a Noob in your hands? So when you can't compare to GEN, just forget the Y-incabloc, what else can be seen by just looking at the Noob?

In all honesty, if you don't have a gen next to you to compare, visually it's a very very good rep and mostly spot on. It really takes a panerai geek to spot the little discrepancies.

I've not been called out and I do have friends with gens of this exact model. Even they didn't suspect a thing. We just discussed about straps and other future Pams to get :D

The rep asso straps are, in my opinion, of poor quality. They look okay, but the thread used for stitching is cheap and will fray quickly. The strap itself is stiff and made with cheap leather. Some people seem to like these straps okay, but to me putting a watch this nice on a cheap strap like this doesn't make much sense. If I were you, get it and see if you like it. If you don't, you can quickly sell the strap for $40 on here and then put that money towards a nice aftermarket strap. I like the gator staps from www.thewatchboys.com, as I'm not a big fan of the thick leather straps.

Having handled 111m and gen the biggest tell is the operation of cg , the rep lever operation can never match the smooth feel of the gen and its an instant tell to anybody having the gen

I think people familiar with PAM111 rep evolution should already know it has reached a stage that without a GEN side by side comparison, its spot on.

But i started this thread to learn more about the minor detail difference. Appreciate acoustix input :)

Previously Puretime did a teardown comparison for the PAM111M series vs GEN here on a component basis. Just wanted to see if there are others, like the handling of the lever etc.
